Luxury motorcycle wash: Motorsplash by CR&S

Motosplash by CRS

Who better to trust with the care of your motorcycle than the guys who build them? This line of motorcycle care accessories, Motosplash, comes from the guys at CR&S who are in the business of creating gorgeous, hand-built bikes. So we figure they might know something about taking care of that special paintwork and chrome once you’ve gone about putting scratches on things.

The Motosplash products (and if the name doesn’t suggest a luxury bath for your bike, nothing will) have been created to keep motorcycle’s looking shiny and it makes great business sense for CR&S. While they want to keep their large workshop to hand-built custom motorcycles, they can expand their business by offering the right kind of support products.

The Motosplash range has five products, starting with Super Gel for the mechanical bits. It’s got water-resistant, lubrificant and anti-rust properties. Super Brill is for the plastic components of a motorcycle and is used to protect surfaces against UV rays. It maintains suppleness and flexibility, avoiding cracks and brittleness that form over time.

CR&S DUU live at 2010 EICMA

By Alison

CRS stand live Eicma 2010

CR&S hand-built bikes from Italy continue to fascinate and here are live pics from EICMA of the CR&S DUU model. It has had a quick ascension from last year’s protoype and has already entered production for those wanting a real, custom-built motorcycle. After the Ducati Diavel, it’s the only other Italian cruiser model at the 2010 EICMA but if you’re seriously into your cruisers, this custom will steal the show for you over the Diavel, any day.

In fact, the DUU is a true amalgamation of European design on an American icon. Taking the cruiser bike history and an American engine, CR&S has tried to stick to European design principles in terms of chassis quality and pure, clean style. The company says more than 130 orders have already been placed meaning that its workshop approach has worked so far.

CR&S DUU goes into production

By Alison

CRS DUU production model

The original CR&S DUU appeared at the 2009 EICMA show as a prototype and these new pics show its first steps towards becoming a production model. The company is a small workshop run by Roberto Crepaldi in Milan and all DUU models are entirely hand built to order. This gorgeous bike will go on show again at the 2010 EICMA in its final series form and whether you consider a practical machine or not, it’s definitely something to look at.

Two versions of the CR&S DUU will be produced - a single seat and a twin-seater. For 2011 all models have already been ordered, with more than 130 orders placed meaning that CR&S has also had to moved headquarters to a larger production facility. The muscular design combines with an American X-Wedge V-Twin engine from S&S.

Despite that US influence, the guys at CR&S have tried to keep things European in terms of the chassis design and overall style and the DUU has already won a design award from the MAD-Moto Arte Design competition. With an economic downturn still looming large over Europe, this workshop design and culture of quality, hand-built product has put CR&S in good stead for its future plans. Crepaldi describes his company’s manifesto, saying:
