Randy de Puniet still hasn’t a signed deal in his pocket for the 2012 season, however he was at Jerez today for Aspar Team Aprilia and testing more or less the same hybrid Aprilia RSV4 set-up with Bridgestone tires and carbon brakes that he and Alex Hofmann used at Valencia. The French rider was unofficially the fastest of the day setting a best time of 1’41”5, and outpacing Colin Edwards on the NGM Forward Racing’s Suter-BMW by one second.
Edwards however shaved off a 1.3 seconds from yesterday’s lap times and he was already more than two seconds faster than Ivan Silva on the Inmotec and Yonny Hernández on the BQR FTR-Kawasaki, but both riders also shaved off a second.
Scott Redding was the fastest Moto2 rider again and he was followed by three other Kalex riders, Pol Espargaro and Esteve Rabat from Pons Racing and Marc VDS team mate Mika Kallio.
Carlos Checa and Franco Battaini were back on track with the GP12, but today was the last day of testing for the World Superbike champion as he’s heading to Moscow tomorrow for a big press conference event for World Superbike’s Russian round and no test times were released as they weren’t for BMW Superbike riders Leon Haslam and Marco Melandri who are doing electronic package comparisons.
