Yoshimura Suzuki at Monza

Yoshimura Suzuki at Monza

Daisaku Sakai on his Yoshimura Suzuki didn’t make it into yesterday’s Superpole session at Monza, the Japanese rider who substituted the injured Yukio Kagayama in Yoshimura’s World Superbike debut, qualified only 21st, so we didn’t actually see the bike in action.

So check out the funny headlight sticker on the GSX-R 1000 and the Yoshi mini truck squeezed between the paddock giants.

Yoshimura Suzuki’s partecipation as wildcards in three races is their effort to see if they can produce a GSX-R capable of fighting on par with the other World Superbike teams and if they can sell competitive bikes at affordable prices.

WSBK Monza: Daisaku Sakai to replace Kagayama in Yoshimura Suzuki Debut

By Toni M.

daisaku sakai

Yoshimura Suzuki will be debuting in the Monza round of the World Superbike Championship this weekend however it will not be Yukio Kagayama who will be riding at the ‘Temple of Speed’, but Daisaku Sakai.

Kagayama was originally the rider chosen to ride for the high profile Japanese team’s debut, but in this weekend’s British Superbike Championship round at Oulton Park, the Worx Crescent Suzuki rider in Race 1 was hit from behind, resulting in a high speed crash.

The heavy fall left Kagayama with a compression to his T7 vertebrae and having to undergo further tests will be unable to take part in Yoshimura Suzuki’s debut.

Daisaku Sakai has already been called in to replace Kagayama and has already arrived in Italy.

WSBK: Yoshimura Suzuki Reveals Racing Program

By Toni M.

yoshimura suzuki

After their announcement last December regarding their plans to take part in several World Superbike races, Yoshimura Suzuki has now revealed their program for 2010. Yoshimura Suzuki has decided to take part in three rounds with two different riders.

The first race will be at Assen, with former WSBK rider Yukio Kagayama, the second race will be at Imola (pending contract negotiations with the Italian track) with Daisaku Sakai riding. Sakai is in his third year with the team and the 2009 runner up in the All Japan Superbike Championship.

Sakai was chosen for Imola because Yukio Kagayama who was bartered for Sylvain Guintoli in Alstare Suzuki will be racing for Worx Crescent Suzuki in the BSB Silverstone round on Sepember 26th and Kagayama will be back with Yoshimura for the WSBK Magny Cours round.

The Japanese team will also be competing in the 2010 Suzuka 8 Hours with Kagayama, Sakai e Nobuatsu Aoki, who is presently Suzuki’s MotoGP test rider.
