See the Ducati Superbike on track behind the scenes, and the Ducati Hypermotard in Milan’s urban landscape. The two videos are both very interesting, and different from each other, and they show how much work goes into producing the finished product promo videos we see. While there’s the excitement of the Superbike on the track, I love the variability of the Hypermotard video and the urban setting. See behind the scenes for the Superbike above and the Hypermotard after the jump.

After the defeat of a Ducati Hypermotard by the Caterham R500, the guys at Autocar have decided to up the ante, and pit a Ducati 1098 against a Nissan GT-R Skyline. The 1098 S has about 150 hp and weighs approximately 180 kg. It competes against the GT-R with 473 hp and a better power to weight ratio. Check out the video for another motorcycle-car track challenge.

Local pricing for the Ducati Multistrada 1200 has been released, and it starts on the Italian market at 14,900 euros. The Multistrada ABS version starts at 15,900 euros, while the S and T versions are 18,900 euros.
Ducati has released the pricing of its 2010 superbike models, too, with the Ducati 1198 S Corse and 1198 R Corse costing 24,990 euros and 38,500 euros respectively. If you want one of them for Christmas, you’d better be on your very best behaviour!
The prices are all on the road, including taxes. The 2010 Ducati Hypermotard models obviously cost less than the Multistrada, and go as follows:

You know when a bike has become a true success when it starts appearing in mainstream movies or in this case, one of Italy’s oldest and most iconic comics books, Diabolik.
Diabolik is an anti-hero and a ruthless, master thief, who in the number 11 issue titled “La morte sa aspettare” (Death can Wait) leaves behind his usual Jaguar and rides a fantastic Ducati Hypermotard to do one of his hits.
The fictional character was created by sisters Angela and Luciana Giussani in 1962 and inspired by French and Italian pulp fiction, and was turned into a feature movie in 1968 called Danger: Diabolik directed by Mario Bava and starring John Phillip Law and also into a cartoon series.

Here’s an onboard video of the new Ducati Hypermotard 1100. This particular version is the Hypermotard 1100 Evo SP, which is equipped with a Desmodue Evoluzione 1100 cc engine, with bore and stroke of 98×71,5mm. Other modifications increase the power of the Hypermotard, taking it up 5 hp to a total of 95 hp (69.9 kW) at 7,500 rpm. It has torque of 10.5 kgm at just 5,750 rpm.
Other fun bits on the Hypermotard 1100 Evo SP is the Marzocchi fork with DLC material (Diamond Like Carbon), Ohlins shock absorber, Brembo callipers the same as those on the Ducati superbike, and Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tyres. After the jump is another video from Tor Sagen with his Hypermotard test ride.

Ducati is having a “hypermotard” year as another new Ducati Hypermotard 1100 will be presented at the 2009 EICMA show. Recently Ducati has focussed on its Monster and Streetfighter models, but each has its turn, as we will see the Hypermotard 796 and the new Ducati Stradaperta/Multistrada at the show.
The new Hypermotard 1100 might be less exciting than the previous models mentioned, but it should contain some of the new chassis and technological solutions of the Hypermotard 796 (in the pics of this post).
The Hypermotard 1100 will have other elements though, that will set it apart from the 796, and we will certainly see some added Ducati power, likely on a more rigid frame and with new suspension. Stay tuned as we wait for EICMA to kick off.

Here’s Tor Sagen again, this time with the onboard video of the new Ducati Hypermotard 796. Check out his exploits on the Moto Morini Granpasso 1200 and the new MV Agusta 2010 Brutale. We’ll be bringing you more details and pics of the Ducati Hypermotard 796 come next month’s 2009 EICMA show.
The new Ducati Hypermotard 796 will debut at the 2009 EICMA show next month, but you can also get a closer look at it in this official Hypermotard 796 video. The new bike has a mean-looking style and should certainly turn some heads. See the video and our first post for more Hypermotard details.
Here’s the new 2010 Ducati Hypermotard 796 in a full gallery of official pics. Similar in looks to the 1100, the Hyper 796 has a series of new updates and modifications. It’s a completely lightweight model, weighing just 167 kg, and has a lowered seat and completely new engine.
The Hypermotard 796 new motor is a Desmodue with 81 hp and torque of 75.5 Nm. Fuel consumption is very low at only 4.8 l/km, and the bike complies with Euro 3 anti-pollution norms. The new Ducati Hypermotard is also equipped with a wet oil APTC clutch.
The Italians get to avail themselves of a Ducati scrappage scheme, meaning the new Hypermotard will cost them 1,000 euros less. Otherwise, local market prices have it at 8,990 euros (Dark tint), available from the end of October. We’ll be showing live pics from the EICMA show next month.

Here’s a rendering of one interpretation of a new Ducati Multistrada or Stradaperta. The aggressive design comes from Xavier Gordillo at Motorevue and shows a hypothesis on an all-terrain Ducati bike.
Reports say that a new Ducati Hypermotard 796 should appear at the EICMA show in Milan, and if a Multistrada should appear in the future as well, competition for the BMW R1200GS is really heating up. More work probably needs to be done on this rendering, as it looks a little out of proportion, but it’s an interesting offering anyway.
