Ducati Strada Aperta spy shots

Ducati Strada Aperta spy shots

Ducati fans are waiting for the release of Ducati’s Strada Aperta (name to be confirmed), which will replace the Multistrada this year. These spy shots give a sketchy idea of the bike, whose release should happen in November.

The Strada Aperta is still heavily camouflaged but the overall style is evident, with a sleek, agressive look and pointed tail in dirt-bike style. The bike should sport front twin disc brakes, single rear disc, and single-sided swing arm. There are some classic Ducati features that meet expectations (such as Ohlins suspension), but debate on the engine to be chosen is inconclusive.

A 1,200cc air cooled DS motor was originally reported, but rumours have changed to speculate that the motor will be the liquid-cooled Testastretta from the Ducati Streetfighter. With the target competitor set to be the BMW R1200GS, Ducati might have some other surprises up its sleeve. In the gallery is a full set of Strada Aperta spy shots from recent months, from Motociclismo, MCN and Motor.nl.

Popular Mechanics tests Ducati Streetfighter

Ducati Streetfighter 2009

You might dream of superbikes, and live and breathe superbikes, but what happens when you want a bike that will give you that kind of thrill and performance, when you’re not on the track? How do you match road comfort with a sports superbike ride?

According to Popular Mechanics, the Ducati Streetfighter is the answer. We’ve already seen the Streetfighter gallery, and the official video, along with other tests from Moto Revue and Tor Sagen.

Basem Wasef from Popular Mechanics says:

Ducati superbikes are focused, hardcore machines with the capability for breakneck, knee-dragging, on-track shenanigans. But their stretched out ergonomics can wear thin during street rides out in the real world. If you’re not an aspiring MotoGP star, but still want a motorcycle with serious bite, Ducati’s new Streetfighter aims to scratch that itch for power without leaving you with sore wrists and a hefty chiropractic bill.

Knee to the asphalt: Ducati Streetfighter S

By Alison

Test Ducati Streetfighter S by Moto Revue

We have to give our compliments to the Franch test rider from Moto Revue in his test of the Ducati Streetfighter S, best bike for 2009. Have a look at the lean this guy gets! He’s almost on a par with Vitto Guareschi and his ride of the bike. This is how Ducati Streetfighter S should be ridden!

Bezzi's Guzzi Drago

By Toni M.

guzzi drago

Another creation by Oberdan Bezzi, this one is the Moto Guzzi Drago 1200 (Drago in Italian means dragon). The style is aggressive, streamlined and radical and it’s his idea of a motorcycle that could seriously take on the new Ducati Streetfighter.

Ducati Streetfighter Crash

By Toni M.

This poor Motorcycle USA test rider crashed out with a Ducati Streetfighter at the Ascari circuit in Spain.

You can just imagine the guys from Ducati who supplied the bike, with their hands in their hair, swearing in Italian, Spanish and bad English.

Ducati Streetfighter 2009

Here’s a full gallery of the beautiful Ducati Street fighter super naked, voted by the public at last year’s Eicma show in Milan, as the best bike of the show. The Ducati naked is agressive but sophisticated with 155 hp from the twin cylinder 1098 Testastretta Evoluzione engine.

The Streetfighter has a reduced weight, Data Analyser and traction control, racing brake system and adjustable suspension. It is a top-of-the-range motorcycle, costing 14,990 euros for the Streetfighter, and 18,700 euros for the Streetfighter S, with a two-year unlimited kilometre warranty.

Some features of the Ducati Streetfighter appear after the jump. For a Streetfighter test ride video, see our previous post.

Ducati Streetfighter and Streetfighter S clothing range

By Alison

Abbigliamento Ducati Streetfighter 2009

Here’s the full clothing line for the Ducati Streetfighter, complete with Fighter jacket, Flow light jacket, DTR 09 helmet, Performance seamless SS t-shirt, Ducati Corse 09 leather gloves and Flag trousers. And we thought getting the Streetfighter was just about the bike.

The Fighter jacket has shoulder and elbow padding, and can be worn with the G2 back protection. It combines the comfort of soft material with the durability of leather. The jacket is stylish with the new Ducati logo, and comes in black and white colouring.

Interview: Xavier Simeon rider in the Ducati Xerox Junior Team

By koen

Just before Xavier Simeon leaves for Spain to test his Ducati Xerox Superstock 1000 bike we found him for an interview.

Xavier, how does it feel to be a member of the Ducati Xerox Junior Team today?
It’s the first time for me to do some PR for Ducati and I really enjoy it. It’s a big change for me after Suzuki but it’s a new challenge. I am meeting so many journalists this days, it’s really great for me.

Did you receive many comments, reactions?
All my friends at home and in the paddock are very happy for me to join the Italian team and I am also sure that I made the good decision. Ducati won the SBK Championship, Superstock. I believe Ducati is the best.

How about the model range from Ducati?
They have a new bike, the Streetfighter. It think it’s a good bike for roads. All the Ducati bikes are built to have fun, not only riding. If I could choose a new bike for myself it’s the Streetfighter for sure, I want to try it out!

Ducati Streetfighter: online tuning

By Alison

Streetfighter Ducati, sbizzarritevi col tuning

After the launch of the new Ducati Streetfighter naked, plenty of web talk occurred on the pros (many) and the cons (the price?) of the new Ducati model.

And so the talk went on, with plenty of photoshopping (some nice efforts, others debateable), but Motopormoto.com has taken this one step further. They have published a flash application that can personalise the Streetfighter with some elements.

If you can’t afford the real deal, you can download the application and play with colours, headlights, mirrors, exhausts etc etc to you heart’s content. Let us know how it goes.
