The motorcycling world often helps out in charity causes, as seen in Shane Byrne’s charity project to raise money for Mcmillan Cancer Support. The British Superbike Champion’s helmet was recently auctioned on ebay. Shane said: “I suffered a big loss in my life because of cancer. I hope that the money raised from the auction of this helmet can go some way, however big or small, towards helping others similarly affected whilst also highlighting the great work carried out by the people at Macmillan Cancer Support.”
It’s great to know that the motorcyclingworld and even riders are continuing these fund raising initiatives for charities in these difficult times.

Our reader Damned Throttle gave us the tip of this strange auction on Ebay that you can find here. It’s oh-so-rare but at this auction, you can buy the Desmosedici RR which we recently talked about as appealing to the rich and famous, particularly in the US market.
It’s a big opportunity for whoever wants this little gem and didn’t manage to get hold of one of the 1000 sold. The seller has also made a declaration which should put you in no doubt that this is actually real:
“I sell road Ducati Desmosedici, I’ve got more than one and so don’t wait. This is a serious auction so don’t stress me out - whoever wants the bike can get in touch. I offer seriousness and I expect it in kind.”
There is even a phone number, though we’ll just mention that dreams can be costly and this model is up for sale at 65,000 euros compared to the original 55,000 of the official Ducati price.

At another great auction on ebay you can bid for the personal Spidi leathers and gloves, Sidi boots and Arai helmet from Colin Edwards. Colin is donating proceeds to the not-for-profit organisation, the Joe Parkhust Memorial Scholarship Fund. The program supports education for survivors of childhood brain tumors of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.
The winner of the complete set will have the opportunity to meet the popular Texas Tornado at the Lugano Seca USGP. The set will be presented by Colin on the evening of Saturday, July 19.
Colin Edwards was born in Houston USA and over the years won 30 SBK races before he moving to the MotoGP in 2003. Today he races with team mate James Toseland in the Yamaha Tech 3 Team and is holdaing 5th place in the World Championship with 98 points.

In everything from shoes to motorcycles, Italian flair has captured the imagination of people around the world. And Ducati can be particularly singled out for its beauty, its speed and engineering prowess.
But it seems the Americans have wanted to add their own touch to the Ducati legend. Over on e-bay a tuned-up Ducati a la “americana” is on auction. The Ducati 996 Custom Cruiser Pro Street was especially built for Ferrari dealership owner, Ray Anthony, and is going at around 28,900USD.
As you can see in the video, that it’s “one of a kind” is no joke - below is a photo of the bike which won best in show at Daytona 2005. But if you want to be noticed, it could be just for you. For more information and some pics, go to e-bay.

In returning to our Vespa discussions, we’ve discovered a sidecar is up for auction. The team at Le Blog Moto has found an unusual auction on Ebay: up for betting is a completely restored Vespa VBB 150 Sidecar from the 1960’s.
The rebuilding includes all new two-tone paintwork, a 150 cc engine, electronic ignition and 10-inch wheels. A special request from the owner is that only real Vespa fans, passionate about the brand’s tradition, bid. After shipping and restoration costs, the Vespa now lives in Las Vegas and the owner can help organise delivery. The bidding currently stands at US$8599, and is open until June 2.
When speaking about charity maximum attention is inevitable, especially if it regards our world and the aim is to raise funds for medical research on cures for the central nervous system.
And we’re talking about something serious as behind this is the Wings for Life Spinal Cord Research Foundation, the charitable association created by the founder of Red Bull, Dietrich Mateschitz and Heinz Kinigadner for cures in the face of injuries of this type.
As an incentive for afficionados and to encourage their contribution, the association has decided to organize an auction on eBay, where you can give a hand by bidding for an infinity of items from our world.
