Valentino Rossi and Ferrari, a never ending story

By Toni M.

rossi and ferrari

This has to be the umpteenth story coming out of Italy about Valentino Rossi and Ferrari getting together ever since Rossi tested the red car in a number of occasions.

Rossi confessed the other week that he and Stefano Domenicali of Ferrari talked about the possibility of racing for the Maranello team as a replacement for the struggling Luca Badoer for the Italian Grand Prix.

The 8 times World Champion refused the opportunity, citing that the lack of preparation on his neck and the lack of test time on the car and his title fight for the 2009 MotoGP Championship.

“We spoke with Domenicali, but we had two big problems. The first one is the neck, because I don’t know if I would be able to finish the race with my neck. Monza is not very strong for the neck, but anyway it still needs great effort, and also, because we’re fighting for the MotoGP championship, for sure the race at Monza would be a big stress and it’s better to stay in MotoGP. We had already decided before, that to go into a Formula 1 race without testing the car is more risky than fun. It’s not possible to arrive over there and do all the work to understand the car in just three days.”

Valentino Rossi to drive Ferrari in F1 competition?

By Alison

Valentinoferrari1

It looks as though Valentino Rossi’s test drive of a Ferrari with the excuse that it was a present to himself for winning the MotoGP 2008 championship could be an exercise in smoke and mirrors, according to Rossi’s friend and sidekick Uccio Salucci.

Apparently Rossi’s real desire after the test runs would be to drive in competition with Ferrari, declaring that “the track is my home”. It looks like the Ferrari Formula 1 red is too big a temptation to resist, and Rossi is said to have clocked some impressive times in his test run at Mugello.

Rossi’s friend, Salucci, has been quoted as saying that Rossi “thinks of nothing else” but the possibility of becoming an F1 driver. Given his contract with Yamaha ends in 2010, it could be the perfect opportunity for a change and something new. Could Valentino Rossi be the next Ferrari F1 champion?!

Domenicali on Valentino Rossi's F1 ride

By koen

Valentino Rossi, the Italian MotoGP World Champion and hero went to Mugello to drive the red Ferrari Formula 1 car. Valentino, riding the Ferrari with the number 46 on the nose, set an incredible laptime of only 1.5 seconds slower than Kimi’s fastest laptime. He drove the F1 2008 model and the fastest laptime from Valentino of the day was 1.22.500. That compares to Kimi Raikkonen’s time with the 2008 model of 1.21.070. After the test, Teamboss Domenicali said that Valentino would have been an excellent F1 driver, but he chose a different road.

Rossi to test Ferrari F1 at Mugello in November

By Alison

Rossi torna a guidare la Ferrari F1, troppo forte resisterle?

Valentino Rossi had said that if he won the MotoGP world title, he would give himself the gift of a drive at the wheel of the Ferrari F1: and so Rossi is now ready for his F1 test drive.

Rossi has said that he missed the experience of driving an F1 and so on becoming world champion again in 2008, he took the opportunity to express his wish of trying a Ferrari F1, and not a production series car.

And so at Ferrari, who seem only too happy to oblige, an appointment for the 20th and 21st of November at Mugello has been booked. It is the track that Valentino Rossi loves most.

Valentino Rossi to move to the A1GP Championship?

By koen

Team Italia is still talking with Valentino Rossi to come over to car racing and join the A1GP Championship, as confirmed by Team Italia boss Piercarlo Ghinzani, according to the British magazine “Autoblad”.

Rossi has tried race car driving a few times. He raced once in a rally cross race, -which he really likes a lot - and he also tried to ride the Formula 1 from Ferrari.

It could be possible, as Ferrari will deliver a racecar in next year’s A1GP Championship.
