As Marc Potter from MCN, who rode alongside Valentino Rossi and Giacomo Agostini during the parade lap and was with the Italian duo while they were watching the Dainese Superbike race reported what Valentino Rossi said, or what I imagine anyone would say, who was taking in for the first time in their life the Tourist Trophy and watching John McGuinness go by at 180mph: “’Fack!”
Rossi rode a specially painted 2009 Yamaha R1 alongside Giacamo Agostini who was on a MV Agusta and followed the TT marshals and “Ago” showed Rossi where he won 10 TT Trophys out of the sixteen times he competed in the races when they were part of the official Gran Prix championship.

Valentino Rossi’s appearance at 2009 Isle of Man TT has been postponed until Monday June 8 due to poor weather forecasts.
The 8 times World Champion was due to complete a parade lap of the 37.73 mile (60.7 km) road circuit with Grand Prix and TT legend Giacomo Agostini this morning ahead of the Dainese Superbike TT race.
Vittorio Cafaggi, Communications Director, Dainese commented:
“Valentino is very much looking forward to visiting the Isle of Man and is keen to experience the races which is why we have rescheduled his trip to make sure that he is able to enjoy a lap of the course and be certain of a full day’s racing.”

Reigning MotoGP World Champion Valentino Rossi has been nominated for the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year award, an honour that will be decided in the tenth edition of the Laureus World Sports Awards.
Rossi was one of six sportsmen to be entered onto the final shortlist, following a ballot open to the world’s media in a record 112 countries. His rivals for the prize are Olympic gold medal winners Usain Bolt, Michael Phelps, Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton, tennis champion Rafael Nadal and soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo.
Giacomo Agostini, 15 times world champion and member of the Laureus World Sports Academy is estatic about Rossi’s nomination:
“He is without doubt the greatest motorcycle racer of his generation and one of the greatest of all times. He lost the championship in 2007 and bounced back stronger than ever, winning in 2008 as a champion. Records are made to be broken and I don’t think there’s a better person than Valentino to break mine and I compliment him. I’m also happy that it was an Italian who did it.”

With the Moto GP kicking off in Qatar, and the Superbike underway, it looks like it will be a season of record making and breaking. And the names to beat will be Valentino Rossi and Max Biaggi, as both in their respective disciplines, will look to be the best (Italian) rider of the year.
In the ranking of most poles won in the three classes, Rossi is third on 51, preceded by Max Biaggi (56) and Mick Doohan (58). The possibility of Rossi beating Biaggi is at hand, but in Yamaha, Rossi has never achieved more than five poles in any one season.
If Rossi should win a fourth title with Yamaha, he would beat the likes of Eddie Lawson, Wayne Rainey and Kenny Roberts all on three titles with the company. Rossi is also first in the ranking of most points ever won, with 3,720, ahead of Loris Capirossi on 2,993 and Max Biaggi 2,892. If Rossi gets 400 points (he reached 373 last year) he could hit the 4,000 mark.

While this might be a Giacomo Agostini replica helmet, we recommend you don’t go attempting any re-enactments of the rider who won 123 gran prix and 160 podium appearances from 187 races. It will make you feel part of history, though.
The AGV Ti-Tech Replica Giacomo Agostini is a helmet of the same model and materials used by Valentino Rossi. The Agostini Replica is a full face helmet with SSL (Super-Super-Light) Kevlar Carbon shell in two different sizes.
The helmet is fitted with IVS (Integrated Ventilation System) with titanium air intakes and internal lining that can be removed and washed. The ventilation system combines with the cool max lining for better breathing and hygiene. It comes with a Race visor in clear polycarbon, with anti-scratch, anti-fog and tear off features.
The not-so-young will certainly remember teh Aspes brand, linked to the Yuma and Hopi models, and now we’ll have the chance to see them back on the market. Menzaghi Motors, from Varese in Italy has announced its acquisition of the Aspes brand and is undertaking a relaunch of the historic Italian motorcycles and their quality and innovation.
Aspes will take to the market with new motard models, and some new scooters both low and high wheel with engines between 50 and 150 cc. This is a move from the past into a modern niche market. Mostly four-stroke engines will be used in line with anti-pollution laws.
Aspes will establish a partner network among dealerships for sales. Umberto Pertosa is Aspes general manager and is happy to announce the return of the brand after 27 years. It’s their intention to launch environmentally friendly models from the outset.

Italy has always loved motorcycle racing and its riders and this video from an Italian show called Sfide titled “Waiting for Valentino Rossi” features Renzo “Paso” Pasolini and his rivalry with the superstar racer of that time Giacomo “Ago” Agostini. Two different racing styles and a rivalry that divided many Italian fans in those days as the Rossi –Biaggi rivalry would do in the future.
For those older racing fans this will be a bittersweet walk down memory lane and for you young guns, its a big piece of racing history.

Valentino Rossi was crowned on August 28th as Honorary President of AGV helmets by Lino Dainese.
Lino Dainese said: ” Valentino Rossi has been the thread - or rather, the steel cable - that has managed to keep AGV connected with motorcycle racing at times when this historic firm had lost that particular verve and freshness which, from its outset, had mad it become a world leader in the manufacture of crash helmets. Thanks to his exploits, his commitment to his craft and his enthusiasm, Valentino has nurtured the AGV brand, taking it to the highest level of the podium”.

Today we give you an introduction to female rider Chiara Valentini from Italy. She wrote to Twowheelsblog:
Hi, I am Chiara Valentini, 33 years old. I started to race in 2004 for the Italian Women’s cup. In 2005, I raced together with Paola Cazzola and we were the first women in the official female Ducati team, called Y2K and we rode with a Ducati 999S : I finished the Italian Championship in third position. Then in 2006, I won the European Women’s Championship in the 600 class with the Ducati 749R. In the same year, unfortunately I had a crash at the last race of the Championship and I broke my shoulder. It was at Vallelunga. I finished the Championship as second.
Because of the crash I was not able to race in 2007. Only this year I started again and I am racing in the Ducati Desmo Challenge in the Protwins class. I am not only racing: I also report for the motorcycle television MotoTV on Sky together with Giacomo Agostini and Marco Lucchinelli, and I coach for the Italian Motorcycle Federation.
If you want, you can find all my news, information and photo gallery on my website.
Best regards to all!
Chiara.
Thank you Chiara, all the best from Twowheels!
