Ivan Silva to use Inmotec chassis at Jerez GP

By Toni M.

ivan silva

CRT Avintia Blusens rider Ivan Silva will be switching chassis for the upcoming Jerez GP. The Spanish team has decided to introduce a carbon fibre chassis designed by Inmotec, while team mate Yonny Hernandez will stick to the FTR frame, with both riders still using Kawasaki ZX-10R engines.

Also switching chassis supplier will be Moto2 Avintia Blusens rider Julian Simon. The Spaniard has decided to drop the FTR chassis for a Suter. Simon is already familiar with Suter chassis, because his former Moto2 team, Mapfre Aspar switched from the Italian RSV to the Swiss manufacturer in 2010 after just two rounds.

Many will remember Inmotec, the Spanish firm who designed and presented a MotoGP machine and had ambitions of competing in the MotoGP championship during the 800cc era, but their prototype bike was never competitive enough and that Ivan Silva was the test rider.

According to motoworld.es, BQR (Avintia) and Inmotec had worked to together during the pre-season on an aluminum chassis, but in the end the team opted for FTR’s rolling chassis to start the season, even if we were lead to believe that the team had constantly tested their CRT bikes only with the British manufacturer’s chassis.

Hernandez and Silva finished 14th and 16th in their CRT debut in Qatar.

Inmotec delays MotoGP debut again

By Toni M.

inmotec

Spanish Inmotec has withdrawn its idea of debuting their GPI10 prototype during the Aragon GP in September due to to sponsorship problems, but is still hoping to be present at the final round of the season at Valencia.

Managing Director of Inmotec, Oscar Gorria, said “It’s a question of economic resources, because of budget problems with our sponsor. The development of the bike is 60-70% complete, but not as far as we expected it to be. We’d like to carry out a test at Alcañiz and then decide if whether we will be in Valencia. We want to work with humility and without making big announcements, and only confirm when we are ready to race.

The Spanish engineering firm has confirmed that will keep developing their own engine based on the new MotoGP 2012 rules: “We will continue with the development of our own V4 engine, but not a 1000cc. displacement and we are well underway in making changes to adapt the engine to the new regulations,” said Gorria, who also confirmed that they have dropped the option of working on another marques engine.

MotoGP: Inmotec on Track (w/video)

By Toni M.

While we’ve been concentrating on seeing if FB Corse can get their three cylinder bike and John Hopkins on track, we’ve completely forgotten the Spanish Inmotec Consultora Técnica who announced back in October, that they too were working on a 800cc bike and that they wanted to compete in MotoGP in 2010.

Former MotoGP rider Ivan Silva has been busy testing the Inmotec GPI 10 and the team has already completed twelve tests on the bike that has already undergone several updates on its chassis and engine.

We still don’t know if Inmotec will compete in the entire 2010 season, but judging by this video they look pretty enthusiastic about partecipating and with only 17 bikes on the grid, the MotoGP championship sure could welcome another team.
