19-year-old Jackson Strong is the first rider to complete a front flip in competition, according to reports. The first recorded front flip completed on a motorcycle was by Jim DeChamp in 2009, but this X Games front flip video captures the move in competition. We already reported that Jackson completed a front flip on the Crusty Demons tour in Australia recently, but we’re not sure if that qualifies as a ‘competition’ one or not. In any case, it looks like it’s becoming Strong’s specialty and what’s more, in this latest front flip, he sticks the landing and runs away with a gold medal in the best trick contest for doing so. He’s only nineteen and the youngest member of the Crusty Demons, but Jackson Strong set a new world record by successfully landing an 85-foot front flip during the the last stop of the Crusty Demons ‘Beyond the Apocalypse Tour’ in Cairns this past weekend.

The young Aussie had made three previous unsuccessful attempts during the tour, but pulled-off the stunt in front of a 6,500-strong crowd at the Cazaly’s Stadium in Cairns, Australia.

“I’ve been working on the front flip on a dirt bike for a long time,” said Strong “It’s been a long time coming with my first attempt being about six months ago, where I under rotated the trick and lacerated my liver. So, it just pays off to be determined and let nothing intimidate you.”

After pulling off the front flip, Jackson will spend some time training at his home made jumps in Lockhart before heading to the States for the X-games.
