Kawasaki has been generous to the crowds at the 2010 EICMA show, bringing its full range including the much anticipated new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R. Other models at the show are the Kawasaki Z1000 in its semi-faired SX version, the Z750R, the W800 and the Custom Voyager VN1700. The company has been having mixed fortunes of late but there’s something still irresistable in that shade of green. See the live EICMA pics below.
Kawasaki has issued a recall of its 2010 Z1000 models, both the standard and ABS models, due to a problem with brake hydraulics. Owners are encouraged to get their bikes checked, with the problem being specifically that the brake hose could come into contact with the brake disc in hard braking, therefore creating a possible brake fluid leak in the future.
The work would involving replacing and/or adjusting the brake hose and involves about 1,160 units. Your Kawasaki dealer can check the problem, which was originally discovered on June 15 after repairs for two models were filed at the European distributor. No accidents have been reported and since the Toyota recall scandal, many companies have been very cautious about safety. Better safe than sorry, though.

Kawasaki is driving sales on the European market by offering some models with dedicated accessories as series editions over the summer. The ZX-10R and ZX-6R get “Performance Edition” versions for even more sports power. The ZX-10R has an Akrapovic exhaust, double bubble front shield, mini front indicators and knee protection around the tank. It gains 5hp extra, while the ZX-6R gets an extra 3 hp with the same accessories kit. The ZX-6R costs about an extra 1,000 euros with this set-up, while the ZX-10R is sold at the same price as the standard version.
The Kawasaki ZZR1400 sports touring model gets a Sport Edition kit with an Akrapovic 4-in-2 carbon exhaust which saves 6.5 kg on the bike. An increase of 5 hp is achieved and the ZZR1400 also gets the Double Bubble front. It’s on sale for an extra 1,600 euros. Meanwhile best sellers in Europe, the Z1000 and the Z750, get Sport Urban versions for city riding. Missing the Akrapovic exhaust of the other models, they get tinted wheels, aerodynamic features and fuel tank protection for 200 euros on the 750 and 480 euros on the 1000.
The 1400GTR also gets a “Grand Tour” kit for more sales appeal with a top case, GPS support, bag protection, soft internal bags and some added fuel tank protection, too. It’s sold with an additional price tag of about 420 euros. These lower prices for what are generally optional extras are not a bad strategy for sales this year. Additional incentives for motorcycle purchases are uncertain in Europe in 2010, and Kawasaki is doing something that could give its models added appeal.

Two motorcycle events in Italy are currently, being held, wtih the Motor Bike Expo in Verona, and the Bike Expo Show “next door” in Padua. In Verona you’ll find plenty of famous brands and bikes, including the Aprilia RSV4 R and other new models from Suzuki, Triumph, Ducati etc. Aprilia will also show off its new SXV and RXV off-road models, and for Ducati there’s the chance to check out the new Multistrada 1200, if you haven’t seen it already.
Honda will be present with the CRE and CRM 50 enduro and supermotard models, while the CRE F 125 Racing version will also be on show. Kawasaki will display the Z1000 and the KLX 125 and D-Tracker 125. For the joy of fans of classic bikes, Royal Enfield is putting in an appearance, including the showing of its Bullet Classic EFI.
Suzuki will be celebrating 100 years and will turn up with plenty of new models for 2010, including the GSX-R1000, 25th anniversary edition, the Marauder GZ 125 and the two large cylinder bikes, Intruder M 1500 and GSX 1250F. Triumph will be present with its new Rocket III Roadster.
Interesting to see that Yamaha, despite not putting in an appearance for EICMA 2009, will be in Verona with its X-Max 250 and TMax 500 White Max, along with Rossi’s champion bike, the M1, and Ben Spies’ R1. Check out last year’s show in our gallery, and if you happen to be travelling through Italy, check out the Motor Bike Expo in Verona this weekend, because it should be worth the detour.

The whole sleigh and Santa Claus thing is getting a bit jaded, and we think for 2009 the old man should consider a bike for his choice of transport. So move over, Rudolph, we’re finding Father Christmas something sexier to ride (so to speak). The photo above comes from the guys at Motoblog.it and shows the Christmas decorations from the Arezzo Ducati dealership.
Would Santa choose the new Ducati Multistrada? Or something else from the new bikes we’ve seen this year? There’s the new MV Agusta F4, or the Kawasaki Z1000, or could we see something responsible and ecological, like the Peugeot E-Vivacity electric scooter?
I kind of see Santa on the BMW Concept 6, or the KTM 125 prototype, but they don’t really count because they’re not production bikes (yet). If you were Santa Claus and had to swap your sleigh, what would you pick from this year’s bikes…?
Here’s an onboard video of the Kawasaki Z1000 from the guys at MCN. The new Z1000 is a totally revamped model, and was recently presented at the 2009 EICMA show. Check out all the pics in the colourful Z1000 gallery, and after the jump is another video of the new Kawasaki from the guys at Moteur.
The 2010 Kawasaki Z1000 has a new engine and chassis, and is proving to be one of the more curious models out for next year. The Z1000 has a new four cylinder motor capable of 138 hp at 9,600 rpm and maximum torque of 110 Nm. The new alluminium chassis is 30 percent lighter, and redesigned fairing gives it a more aggressive look.
See after the jump for Z1000 live pics from the 2009 EICMA, and the orginal Kawasaki video giving the full lowdown on the new Z1000 bike.
Here’s the new Kawasaki Z1000 video, after we saw the 2010 Z1000 pics and details yesterday. The bike is totally new for 2010, including motor and chassis, and it has an updated style and look. With further redesigned elements, such as the instrument panel and fuel tank, this is one bike you’re going to have to check out for yourself. The video gives us the low-down on the new features and technology.
These Kawasaki 2010 range presentation videos include a closer look at the new Z1000, Ninja ZX-10R, Versys, KLX 125, 1400 GTR, and more. We’ll be featuring more pics and details of the various models of the 2010 Kawaski range over the next couple of days. We can’t wait to see the range at the EICMA show (a huge round of applause for Kawasaki who is actually coming!) and we’re especially hanging out to see the new super naked. See the Z1000 pics here, and check out parts two and three of the presentation videos after the jump.
The 2010 Kawasaki Z1000 is a brand new bike, with all new four-cylinder engine, alluminium chassis and a meaner look. It has been designed to draw on past naked streetbike tradition, but provide a totally new Z1000 riding experience for 2010. It promises to be a more powerful bike, with greater performance. After the jump are a full set of pics, and all the details and specs of the new Z1000. More details on power and torque to come.
According to French magazine, Motorevue we could see a totally new Kawasaki Z1000 in the works for next year. The report goes that early presentations could occur in the coming autumn motor shows.
The new four cylinder Kawasaki Z1000 would be more agressive and sports oriented, thanks to the latest generation motor from the ZX-10R. The image is an interpretation of what Motorevuew thinks the bike would look like. Excited?

For the “Z” sisters for 2009 Kawasaki has got some new colours, which will be the only update to the line. The twin colours, though, are very elegant and aggressive.
The new Z1000 will be available in Ebony, Candy Burnt Orange/Metallic Diablo Black, and Pearl Crystal White/Atomic Silver. ABS braking is optional.
