2012 KTM SX and SX-F range details

2012 KTM SX and SX-F models

KTM has recently updated its SX and SX-F range for 2012. The lastest models continue the KTM motocross and supercross traditions, in a wide range of models from small to large and powerful bikes which compete in the MX1 category. The range was successful last year with wins from Antonio Cairoli in MX1, Marvin Musquin in MX2 and Steffi Laier in WMX.

The challenge for KTM has been to maintain the winning characteristics of those bikes, while building on modern technology for the new year ahead. It has since adapted the chassis to the new progressive leverage suspension, and all the two-stroke KTM models are now available with link suspension, in addition to the four-stroke models. New front forks make an appeareance, and modifications have been made by WP to the upside-down forks used.

Overall KTM has made the suspension stiffer and it’s clear that it considers the technology in this area the make or break for championship-winning bikes. It’s easy to think that KTM’s “Ready to Race” motto is just a catch-phrase, but the brand is still pursuing the cutting edge tech which should help it dominate again in the upcoming season.

2012 KTM SX and SX-F models

The new KTM SX and SX-F 2012 models have been released and while all the details aren’t out yet, we can give you some new information on the models. The whole 2012 KTM motocross range will have rear link suspension which Motociclismo says will increase the KTM bikes’ competitiveness against the more aggressive Japanese bikes. The KTM SX range of the 125SX, 150SX and 250SX will all get the new suspension.

The 250 model also gets a new chrome-molybdenum frame with a modified aluminium WP fork that is designed to be more rigid. The KTM 250SX should have a 2012 price of about €7,600. The 250SX-F will cost more at €8,200 and for 2012 it gets chassis updates, and optional electronic ignition which can be shut off like with the 350SX-F. The 450SX-F still has a carburettor but also has electric start. New accessories are available from the KTM Power Parts catalogue.

While we wait to receive all the official details, here is an excellent photogallery of the new KTM motocross models that proves once again that KTM is at the top of the marketing game (at least in the photo shoot category as far as we’re concerned). Take a look after the jump at the KTM Power Parts gallery, too.
