MotoGP rider Jorge Lorenzo’s close friendship with Ricky Cardus is well known in Spain, but Lorenzo has announced via his Facebook page that he will personally and economically be sponsoring Cardus in the Spanish CEV Moto2 Championship.
Cardus was supposed to race in the World Moto2 Championship with Forward Racing (ex Hayate), but the deal fell through when the team preferred Jules Cluzel and first Valentin Debise then Claudio Corti leaving the talented Spanish rider with no place to go.
Now Jorge Lorenzo has come to the rescue of his friend and with his sponsorship Cardus has found a ride with the Laglisse team, which is considered one of the best in the CEV series and all four bikes will display Lorenzo’s personal ‘X Fuera’ logo.
Lorenzo also stated that after seeing the first Moto2 race in Qatar, he may consider forming his own personal team in the future.

Pablo and Gelete Nieto (sons of the legendary Angel Nieto) who used to manage the now defunct Grupo Francisco Hernandez-Onde 2000 MotoGP team with Sete Gibernau, are getting back into racing with the new Moto2 series and they’ve hired their cousin, Fonsi Nieto.
Nieto who didn’t find a regular team in World Superbikes for the 2009 season has been a free agent this year filling in for injured riders like Max Neukirkner in his former Alstare Suzuki team and Regis Laconi in DFX Corse and rumors had it that Nieto would be riding for Team Laglisse but the deal fell through.
The all Spanish team will be backed by Holiday Gym and the Nieto’s team mate will be the 21 year old Yannick Guerra who debuted this year Supersport.
