High fashion BMW S100RR and Leslie Porterfield

This is a lesson in how to get the BMW S1000RR, Karl Lagerfeld and Leslie Porterfield in a room together. Photographer Markus Hoffman did a high fashion shoot with the BMW S1000RR, Porterfield and Lagerfeld outfits in the minimalist setting of the BMW Aerodynamic Test Centre wind tunnel facilities in Munich. Hoffman has continued the theme, pairing one of the hottest superbikes around with more high fashion shoots and supermodels. Check out the pics of Leslie Porterfield and the BMW S1000RR below, and for more see the Markus Hoffman blog.

By Toni M.

Leslie Portefield on Hayabusa

The 2008 AMA Racing Female Rider of the Year Award was presented to Leslie Porterfield. Porterfield became the official fastest female motorcyclist in America this summer at the International Speed Trials by BUB with a top speed of 234.197mph. In addition, she broke three land-speed records and became the first woman to enter the Bonneville 200 mph Club on a conventional “sit on” motorcycle.

Leslie Porterfield’ s records include 209mph on naked Hayabusa, 192mph on a production class CBR1000RR and 234mph on a 2000cc class Hayabusa.
“Setting three land-speed records was something that took a lot of determination and hard work; especially after coming back from my horrific accident last year at the Salt Flats,” said Porterfield. Last year, Leslie was airlifted when she wrecked-out at 110 miles per hour. She suffered seven broken ribs, a punctured lung and was knocked out.

“I am very fortunate to have a really great crew and friends and family behind me. I truly love motorcycles and the people involved in motorcycling. It is a special honor to get this award and to be acknowledged with so many other great riders,” added Porterfield.

The 32-year-old Porterfield is also the owner of High Five Cycles, a successful, used motorcycle dealership in downtown Dallas. She has been riding and racing motorcycles for sixteen of her 32 years.”I’m hopelessly hooked on motorcycles,” she said. “My first mode of transportation was a motorcycle.”
