Casey Stoner's Anti-Tow Device

By Toni M.

stoner and skunk

Ducati’s Casey Stoner is always upset and angry when slower MotoGP riders try to hitch a tow from him.

The Australian has been seen kicking out at rivals and giving them the finger, like in Assen GP qualifying session against Sete Gibernau and naming names of riders who do it regularly and disturb him.

This is a new device that Filippo Preziosi has thought up and designed to keep other riders away from his star, obviously it’s only a prototype, but we think it will work perfectly.

Send your funny, bizarre or surprising pics to us and we’ll post them, with your name. We’d love to share what you guys find in the world of motorcycling! Send to: pics@twowheelsblog.com

Nicky Hayden in Ducati 848 Shoot

By Toni M.

Ducati on the eve of the MotoGP race launched the new 848 Nicky Hayden special edition and on Sunday ran almost the same livery design plus the Malboro bar codes on his Ducati Desmosedici GP9. So watch Nicky talk about Laguna Seca and being a Ducati rider.

The new livery gave the Kentucky Kid a boost, because he took 5th in the race, and it was his season’s best so far.

Casey Stoner: A Tough Cookie

By Toni M.

casey stoner mugello

After last year’s exciting 2008 Laguna Seca race and on the eve of this season’s rematch, we thought that this is an interview that Casey Stoner gave to Alessandro Pasini from Corriere della Sera on June 12th, would give a little more insight on this tough, straight talking Aussie rider that doesn’t roll over when talking to the media.

Stoner is in his fourth year in MotoGP and three of them with Ducati, winning the world title in 2007 and coming second in 2008.

“If I stay in this world, it’s because I love racing too much, now I don’t care about the other guys on track and I don’t care what journalists have to say nor what excuses my rivals come up with”.

Does this make you feel better?

“Much better. This year I feel more relaxed.”

Is this due to a good season begining?

“Certainly, even if Ducati and I haven’t shown all our potential yet.”

You say that you’re getting better as a rider?

“True. Now I’ve got a different mentality, I’m more aggressive”.

MotoGP Assen - Rider Quotes

By Toni M.

rossi assen

Rider quotes after today’s MotoGP race at the Assen circuit. If you’re wondering why Marco Melandri is never present in the quotes, the reason is that the Hayate Racing Team to cut down on operating costs does not have a website nor do they have paddock press office.

Melandri was one of the guests at the post race program Fuori Giri on Italia 1 and told viewers that he has rear grip problems and problems in turning his bike. The Italian rider was also asked what he thought of former Ducati team mate Casey Stoner’s physical problems after the race and he ironical replied that the Australian is suffering from 2 Yamaha’s.

Valentino Rossi (Fiat Yamaha) 1st

“This is a very emotional moment and for sure I will remember this 100th victory for the rest of my life. When I reached 70, 100 seemed a long way away but here I am and it has been great, great fun getting here. It is down to so many people, like Jeremy and my guys who have been with me for ten years and all of the team who always give 100% and always give me the best bike possible. Especially however I have to thank the friends who have been with me my whole life and my father Graziano, who won here in Assen 30 years ago when I was a baby, and my mother Stefania, because they have always supported me. It’s great to reach this moment here at Assen because it’s the ‘Cathedral’ of motorcycle racing and the most historic track we go to. Today was a perfect race – I got a great start and my bike was incredible which meant that my pace was very strong. In fact I think it was better for everyone’s hearts not to have another last-lap battle like in Barcelona! I had a good advantage from Lorenzo in some parts of the track and it was a great ride for me. Now I have 100 wins and I’m only the second rider to arrive at this number, but Agostini still has 22 more and for me he is still the greatest. 100 is a great result but the atmosphere in our team is wonderful and the motivation is still as high as ever – we want to win a few more races together yet!”

Nicky Hayden Injured in Qatar, but wants to race

By Toni M.

hayden crash

Nicky Hayden suffered a spectacular highside on his Malboro Ducati in last night’s MotoGP Qualifying session that left him battered, bruised and suffering severe back pain, and after undergoing some initial x-rays at the circuit medical center, he was taken to the local Ahmad public hospital in Doha for further checks that did not reveal any broken bones. Hayden although did require three stitches on his chest.

“I don’t feel like going for a jog right now, I can tell you that much! It was a big crash and I’m in a lot of pain so we’re going to get some more x-rays done and see what the score is.” said Nicky.

Hayden’s partecipation was in doubt for tonight’s race but according to Italian website GPone.com, Hayden finally got to bed around four this morning (his brother Tommy is in Qatar with him), but it seems that the American rider told his team that he wants to race his 100th GP in Losail.
