Max Neukirchner to replace Stefan Bradl in Kiefer Racing

By Toni M.

max neukirchner

Kiefer Racing who lost their Moto2 World Champion Stefan Bradl to MotoGP, has signed another German rider for 2012, Max Neukirchner.

The 28 -year old rider spent six seasons in World Superbikes before debuting in 2011 in the Moto2 class with MZ Racing and finished 20th in the general standings.

“I’m thrilled to be with Kiefer Racing in Moto2 World Championship next year and can’t wait to start. Unfortunately due to the winter test ban which exists in the Moto2 class, I’ll have to wait until the beginning of Feburary for the first test on the Kalex Moto2 and then at the official IRTA test. For now, my goal is to be constantly in the top 10,” said Neukirchner.

Stefan Kiefer, Team Manager: “We are delighted to work with a top-class German rider like Max. We’ve known Max for a long time, we believe that we can work very well together. With Max and a bike like the Kalex Moto2 we can aim for a successful 2012 season. “

Max Neukirchner to ride for MZ Racing in Moto2

By Toni M.

max neukirchner Max Neukirchner during this year’s silly season was first linked to a new German backed MotoGP team and then to ride with Pramac Ducati with both rumors denied by Neukirchner and his manager.

However, the German rider on his personal website, is now reporting that Thursday evening he closed a deal with MZ Racing and will be riding for the Martin Wimmer’s Moto2 team in 2011.

Apparantly there will also be some sort of restructuring in the team with Marco Nicotari of Pro Ride Racing (the same Pro Ride who hired Makoto Tamada and were supposed to debut in WSBK this year, but never made it) taking over the technical management.

MZ Racing has already been accepted on the 2011 Moto2 provisional entry list (entered with the new name of MZ Motor) with two riders, but we’ll have to wait for the official press release confirming Neukirchner and see if Anthony West will still be with the team next season.

Max Neukirchner in Pramac Ducati? - Updated

By Toni M.

max neukirchner

The rumor that Max Neukirchner would be heading to MotoGP with an all new German team was denied by Neukirchner’s manager and by Neukirchner himself, but more rumors of the German rider in MotoGP were floating around the Imola paddock last weekend.

It seems that the Neukirchner, after a horribile season with Ten Kate Honda with all probability will be ousted from the Dutch Superbike team, has found a very rich sponsor who is willing to back him in Pramac Ducati.

A German rider in MotoGP would make Carmelo Ezpeleta very happy. Dorna’s CEO has always wanted a more ‘international’ grid with riders from other countries that could boost television audiences in other countries instead of the countless Spanish and Italian’s that fill the paddock.

Neukirchner would, if the rumors are true, replace Aleix Espargarò (who doesn’t have a rich sponsor) alongside Loris Capirossi who is almost sure to be replacing Mika Kallio.

UPDATED:

According to Carlo Pernat talking to motosports show Griglia di Partenza from Motegi, has confirmed that Neukirchner is infact in talks with Paolo Campinoti’s team.
More when we get it.

Max Neukirchner denies MotoGP move

By Toni M.

max neukirckner

Sportmediaset has struck out on the Max Neukirchner to MotoGP rumor.

Last week the Italian Studio Sport programme was reporting that the World Superbike Ten Kate Honda rider may have been heading to MotoGP with a new German backed team riding a Ducati, but these rumors have been officially squashed by Neukirchner himself.

Speaking with Motorsport Magazine, the German rider said: “Obviously, I’m honored that people are saying this about me. Unfortunately, the people behind such a project have not yet really contacted us, and we don’t know anything about it.”

Neukirchner has had a torrid 2010 season so far, unable to match team mate Jonathan Rea’s performances and very likely will not be reconfirmed in 2011, with James Toseland heavily tipped to be his replacement.

Max Neukirchner in MotoGP on a Ducati and Alstare Suzuki to replace Rizla Suzuki?

By Toni M.

max neukirchner

Now this is what we really call silly season. Sportmediaset through their daily TV sports show Studio Sport is reporting that World Superbike Ten Kate Honda rider Max Neukirchner may be heading to MotoGP next season with a German backed team.

The new team has an important sponsor that has very deep pockets and willing to shell out, not only 3 million euros for a Ducati Desmosedici, but also support the team in a big way if Dorna approves the entry (they’re probably jumping with joy and preparing the red carpet) and this could mean we may be seeing seven Ducati’s on the grid in 2011.

Even sillier is the rumor that Francis Batta could be switching his Suzuki team lock, stock and barrel from WSBK to MotoGP.

WSBK Ten Kate rider Max Neukirchner got a big confidence boost this weekend during the German IDM Superbike championship at Assen on Sunday. The German rider who got a wild card ride under the Ten Kate Racing Products – the customer racing division of the World Superbike championship’s Hannspree Ten Kate Honda team - rode a Honda CBR 1000RR (IDM has different specs than WSBK) on Dunlop tires.

Neukirchner had qualified in third position on Saturday, just two tenths of a second behind pole man BMW Alpha Technik/Van Zon rider Barry Veneman and in race 1 passed Veneman after just three laps and took the win with a comfortable 7 second lead ahead of Veneman and Martin Bauer and his KTM RC8R Superbike

The race was shortened from 17 laps to 10 and in the re-start Barry Veneman got the lead and carried it to the chequered flag, while Matej Smrz (brother of Jakub) took second and Max Neukirchner took the third spot on the podium

By Toni M.

james toselan

Today’s first free practice at Portimao saw James Toseland hit the the top of the charts with a best lap of 1’44.351 in the final 10 minutes of the session and looking like Yamaha Sterilgarda has solved the electronics problems that hampered the team during the Australian round.

Less than one tenth off was points leader Leon Haslam followed by Max Neukirchner who made a big jump forward, while Max Biaggi who lead the beginning of the practice finished in fourth. Aprilia is not using the much discussed drive cam motor. Jakub Smrz was fifth fastest on his private Ducati leaving the Ducati factory riders Michel Fabrizio in eighth and Noriyuki Haga in a lowly 11th place.

Sylvain Gunitoli was sixth fastest, while Jonathan Rea finished in 7th despite a crash. Carlos Checa who won race 2 at Phillip Island didn’t break the top ten and finished in 12th.

Still recovering Chris Vermeulen who got the okay to race this weekend, didn’t post any official times while replacement riders Makoto Tamada was 20th in his Reitwagen BMW debut, and Sheridan Morais on the Echo CRS Honda was 23rd.

FP1 Results after the jump.

WSBK – Francis Batta Confirms:“ We let Neukirchner go and Sylvain Guintoli will be our second rider”

By Toni M.

francis batta

The rumors regarding Max Neukirchner has left Alstare Suzuki are true and that he is probably heading to Ten Kate Honda is becoming even more probable and according to Motosprint he’ll be with Ten Kate for the next 2 years with an option on the third.

Alstare Suzuki Team owner Francis Batta talking to Italian website Gpone has explains why he let the German rider go.

“I had an option on Max valid until the 30th of September, but I felt that he gave me the run around. I asked Max to come to the Imola race, but he arrived with an incomplete medical record. We had to insist that he undergo a complete check-up with the Clinica Mobile and then we found out why … he never gave us any information on the surgeries that he’d undergone and we found that he had a very serious and delicate operation. Dr. Corbascio and the other doctors told us that he wouldn’t be able to ride for 4 to 6 months and when he returns no one can be sure if he’ll have the same mobility.”
