Michael Jordan talks about his love of two wheels (w/video)

Check out this ESPN video of NBA legend Michael Jordan and owner of the Michael Jordan Motorsports team talking about his avid love and passion for motorcycle racing, riding and his own team.

Jordan Suzuki will be fielding Roger Lee Hayden and Ben Bostrom next season, and the team will be testing this month at Jennings Motorsports Park in Florida.

Michael Jordan meets Hanspree Ten Kate Riders

Michael Jordan showed up for the WSBK races at Miller Sportspark and went to visit the Hannspree Ten Kate Honda riders, Carlos Checa and Jonathan Rea, but he got a bigger surprise when he met Daniel Postmus, one of Ten Kate mechanics who is taller that Jordan, a whopping 2.07m.

The former basektball superstar is a big motorcyle fan and owns the Michael Jordan Motorsports team, that runs the National Guard Suzuki and Jordan Suzuki with riders Geoff May and Aaron Yates who compete in the AMA Pro Racing American Superbike Championship.

Michael Jordan on a Ducati D16

An old video with Michael Jordan doing some laps on a Ducati Motogp bike escorted by several Motogp stars and check out Jordan’s face when he gets out of the BMW driven by Valentino Rossi.

When asked later which was scarier, riding the MotoGP bike or being in that BMW with Rossi, Jordan replied “Rossi. Because I’m a guy, I like to be in control. When you’re sitting in and somebody’s driving, you’re not in control. But if they would’ve told me how good he was, I wouldn’t have been as nervous. He was really good. He scared the crap out of me, but he was good. It was a lot of fun.”

Michael Jordan Motor Sports

In 2004, the legendary NBA star Michael Jordan formed Michael Jordan Motor Sports to bring his passion for motorcycles and motorcycle racing to a new level; a perfect mix of excellence and style to the motorcycle racing industry.

This year Aaron Yates won the team’s first championship in its five year history, in the AMA Superstock class, with teammate Geoff May finishing in second place. Both riding Suzuki GSXR-1000 motorcycles. After reaching these thrilling results, Michael Jordan Motorsports has now announced that it will partner with the Army National Guard to field in 2009 a 2nd Superbike team in AMA.

The partnership was announced Friday, October 9, 2008 at the Caribe Royale Orlando Resort in front of over 2000 National Guard troops. Lieutenant General Clyde A. Vaughn, Director of the Army National Guard was on hand at the unveiling.
