While WSBK was testing in Valencia, six Moto2 teams were also on track, however their test times are more difficult to interpret as all the teams had different kitted and tuned Honda engines.
Anthony West posted the fastest times on both days of testing, but even if the bike was branded MZ, West was riding the same Honda SS that he used during 2009 season because MZ bought the bike directly from Stiggy Racing.
Italtrans’ Robert Rolfo was second fastest also on both days, taking advantage of the fact he has already used the Suter bike, but with a Yamaha engine in the Spanish CEV.
Julian Simon rode the Spanish BQR with a best time this morning of 1’37”8, while this afternoon he tried the Pons Kalex with lap time of 1’38”2 which will probably give Aspar Martinez, who is still hoping of getting Aprilia to give him their abandoned chassis, a better idea of what chassis he could eventually use.

A new team has decided to race in the new Moto2 championship, a squad run by former GP rider Didier de Radigues and former MotoGP Kawasaki team manger Michael Bartholemy and under the banner of Marc VDS Racing Teams.
Michael Bartholemy:
“Moto2’s aim is to replace the 250 category while also reducing costs. Everyone will have the same Honda 600 four stroke engine, while Moto2 bikes’ chassis and swing arm will be completely free to develop. Evidently, this is the area that will provide the difference between the teams.”
“I must admit that the prospect of working with Didier de Radigues within the context provided by Marc VDS Racing Teams is very appealing, as it will allow me to focus entirely on the bike’s development and exploitation. Our team will also field two riders, which we will soon announce. And we may even give a Belgian rider a chance. Let’s wait and see.”

Another Moto2 team has confirmed their riders, Shoya Tomizawa and Dominique Aegerter have both signed up to ride with French Technomag-CIP team run by Alain Bronec.
Tomizawa raced this year on a Honda with team CIP –GP 250 team finishing 17th in the final standings, while Aegerter was with Ajo Interwetten in the 125cc series and was 13th. The nineteen year old Swiss rider has decided to move up to the new series because of his height and weight that are judged ‘big’ for the 125 class.
The Technomag CIP team alongside Italtrans STR (Roberto Rolfo and Robertino Pietri), Hayate (Ricky Carduz) and Kiefer Racing will all be using the Suter chassis on their Moto2’s.

Another piece of the Moto2 championship falls into place, Ricard ‘Ricky’ Cardùs will be racing with Hayate’s Moto2 Team in 2010.
The Spanish rider who competes in the Spanish Speed Championship (CEV) and has had several wildcard appearances in the 125cc GP championship, twice in 2007 and once in 2008 with team Andulcia.
Cardus is the nephew of Carlos Cardùs, the 1990 runner up in the 250cc championship.

Roger Lee Hayden, Nicky Hayden’s kid brother may be heading to Moto2 next year according to motomatters.com. Roger Lee would like to come to Europe to race and his objective is Moto2, but will need a sponsorship funding in order to ride.
Nicky jokingly said : “The problem is that everyone is chasing after sponsors and our dad’s Second Chance used cars lot just isn’t big enough.”
Countryboy, as he’s also known, could be teamed up with Mattia Pasini who has already been confirmed in Gianluca Montiron’s JiR Moto2 team.
Roger Lee took the 2007 AMA Supersport Championship and in 2007 during the Laguna Seca GP was a wild card with Kawasaki and finished 10th.

During the Estoril GP weekend the FIM announced an impressive 39 entry list for the Moto2 championship, which has already made the series a success number wise compared to the dwindling MotoGP grid.

The fellows over at GPone have sharp eyes, they caught this Wanted poster hanging in the Sachsenring paddock.
It’s Dorna’s CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta, who is now going to have some 2 stroke motorcycle manufacturer bounty hunter on his trail looking for the $ 1,000,000 reward.
The caption reads “wanted for crimes against the 250 cc bikes. He is a 2-stroke killer. Outlaw is know to be extremely dangerous and should be approached with caution”.
If Ezpeleta’s and Vito Ippolito’s Moto 1 idea also goes through in 2012, that reward is going to increase a hundredfold and it will probably be Infront Sports and the Flamini Brothers offering it.
Fausto Gresini of Team San Carlo Honda Gresini has announced that he will set up a team for the new Moto 2 series, that will replace the present 250cc Championship in 2010.
Speaking to Italian website GPOne, the former 2 times 125 cc World Champion turned team manager said: “ Next Friday when I arrive at Mugello, the first thing I’m going to do after speaking to Carmelo Ezpeleta is to enter Moto 2 with a team.”
“At the begining it’s going to be expensive to build a Moto2” added Gresini, “I think that the right price would be what they ask you for an official Aprilia, and obviously the investment is destined to pay off in the future. The most important thing is that the team will have an important image to sell.”
