Mustang bikes more pics

Here are more pics of the Mustang bike revival from the guys at California Scooter Company, where you can get a closer look at the Classic, Greaser and Baby Doll models. I like the Classic model but there’s no way you’d catch me on the Babydoll one. You can also get custom built models. See the California Scooter Company site for more details.

Mustang motorcycles are back: retro bikes revived

By Alison

Mustang Motorcycle Revival

Mustang motorcycles are being revived by the California Scooter Company who has built a 149cc, four-stroke engine. The original Mustang bikes were built from 1947 to 1965 and were generally equipped with a 320cc single cylinder motor, or a 122cc Villier’s two-stroke, and 3-speed Burman transmission.

The company plans to build three models: the Classic, Greaser and Babydoll. Other custom-built bikes will also be available and the company should be keeping costs to about $4,995 US. If you want to cruise California on a very nice retro bike, these guys could have the answer.

Ben Spies Tries Out a Mustang Racecar

By Toni M.

Ben Spies, was invited along to help out at Yamaha’s new bike racing school at Miller Sportspark during the WSBK summer hiatus, but he also got the chance to try out a Ford Mustang racecar.

The American enjoyed the driving so much he stayed on for a second day:”I was only supposed to do one day of that, but I had such a blast I ended up doing a second day. They let me do what I wanted to do and I worked with an instructor to get up to speed and just had fun.”

Fortunately Spies confirmed that he is going to be sticking to motorcycle racing and we won’t have to worry for a quite awhile, before he’ll say he’s thinking of retiring and go Formula 1 or rally racing like Valentino Rossi does.

“I got down to some quick times. I drove with my instructor and he was a bit quicker than me but he wasn’t pulling away, so it was fun. I am not starting any rumours about going car racing but it might be fun when I am done motorcycle racing. It’s not a chance that many people get to have, jumping in a racecar and taking it to the limit on a real racetrack. It was a blast.”
