No Alstare -MV Agusta racing team in Supersport

By Toni M.

batta

Francis Batta’s dreams of fielding MV Agusta F3 in World Supersport have been definitely put aside for the 2012 season along with their idea of a couple of wildcard partecipations, which was confirmed by Batta’s wife, Patricia Dethor via their Facebook page, but the historical team insists they are working hard on a return in 2013.

Apparently MV Agusta wants to dedicate all their economic resources on production (we saw the video of their new assembly line earlier this morning) and on development of new bikes and than helping sponsor a racing team at an international level.

2011 EICMA: MV Agusta F3

By Adrian

MV Agusta F3 Live Eicma 2011

MV Agusta F3 was the queen of the 2010 EICMA, when it was first introduced to the world. One year later, the F3 is once again at the Milan event in its definitive version, with also a “Serie Oro” limited edition veriation on display at the MV Agusta stand. Check out the pictures of both variations in our photo gallery, taken right on the spot at the 2011 EICMA in Milan.

As reported in our previous post about this outstanding machine, the bike will use a revolutionaty electronic package called MVICS (Motor & Vehicle Integrated Control System) and will equipped with a brand new 675cc in line three-cylinder engine delivering 126 hp at 14,500 rpm and maximum torque of 71 Nm at 10,600 rpm, redlining at 15,000 rpm. The price of the F3 is 11.900 €.

2011 EICMA: MV Agusta Brutale 675

By Adrian

MV Agusta Brutale 675 Live Eicma

Here are the pictures of the eagerly awaited MV Agusta Brutale 675, taken live at the EICMA. The model will surely become a protagonist in the naked supersport market, boasting the technical mastery that is typical of European bikes and a price which is not too far from the Japanese competitors.

The engine is the same 675 cc 3-cylinder unit powering MV Agusta F3 , but obviously not as powerful: but toned down a bit: instead of the F3′s claimed 126 hp, the Brutale 675 peaks at 113 hp, with both models sharing the same maxium torque value of 71Nm.

This bike surely is a stunner, and is definitely one of the highlights of the whole Milan event. Take a look at our photo gallery (once again courtesy of our colleagues from Motoblog.it) and check that hot exhaust out: you will see it for yourself.

MV Agusta Brutale 675: first official teaser available

By Adrian

MV Agusta has released the first teaser of its new Brutale 675, the long-awaited bike from the Italian manufacturer that will soon take on the naked supersport market to compete with such bikes as Ducati Streetfigher 848 and Triumph Street Triple. The model will use a brand new three-cylinder engine that will be housed in a tubular-steel frame with aluminum side plates, and will be officially unveiled at the EICMA in about 10 days.

The video obviously doesn’t really show that much of the final version, but we can see that the tank looks quite similar to the one equipping the bigger Brutale, the head light is slightly different but maintains the model’s signature shape while the tail is quite small, has a few slits and bears the writing “Trepistoni” on it (’three pistons’ in Italian), which could be a part of the actual name of the bike or just a distinctive label for the 3-cylinder scheme. We will find that out in just a few days.

MV Agusta Brutale R1090 2012

Here are the first pictures of the new MV Agusta Brutale R1090 2012. The new naked bike from the Italian manufacturer will be powered by a 1078cc in-line four cylinder engine with radial valves, which is claimed to deliver a maximum power of 144hp (106kW) at 10,300 rpm. In comparison to Brutale 1090’s engine - from which it derives - it boasts optimized distribution and 8 different mappings for the electronic traction control which are specifically designed for this model.

The chassis’ design - adopted by the 920 - uses a steel trellis frame mixed with aluminum plates. Other notable features are the upside-down Marzocchi 50mm fork, Sachs’s monoshock and the 190/55 - ZR17 rear tyre. The 2012 MV Agusta Brutale R 1090 will have 3 different color schemes: white, red and black.

MV Agusta Sales up 50%

By Toni M.

MV Agusta Sport Bikes

MV Agusta introduced their 2010 Brutale 990R and the 1090RR at the 2009 EICMA show alongside the new F4 and they were a big success judging by the recent press release by the Italian company who is quoting over a 50 per cent increase in sales in the first months of this year.

“In a moment, which is certainly not happy for the world market, MV Agusta has achieved very important increases in the sales of its models. It is an opening season which leads us to believe in an unprecedented commercial success. The dream has only just started now.”

“These are highly technological motorcycles, but with a definitely unique soul, which cannot fail to win over the true motorcyclists.”

This should make Harley Davidson very happy as they are trying to unload MV Agusta and with sales up it should make the Italian company more attractive to eventual buyers.

Berlusconi to take over MV Agusta?

By Toni M.

mv augusta-harley logos

While the rumors regarding that private equity firm KKR could be taking over Harley Davidson with a leveraged buyout continues to put a spin on the Milwaukee based company’s stock, which which jumped big 6% on Tuesday, Italy is continuing with it’s own rumors on the sale of MV Agusta.

After the rumors of a consortium of Italian entrepreneurs led by Geox’s Mario Moretti Polegato that could take over MV Augusta from Harley Davidson, the name of Paolo Berlusconi, brother of Italy’s Prime Minister, has come up as another buyer interested in buying out the Italian company who makes such high performance and expensive bikes as the Brutale and the F4.

Berlusconi is no stranger to the two wheel world having bought out historic Garelli brand name back in 2006, which produces scooters made in China for the European market.

Potential Buyers for MV Agusta?

By Toni M.

mv agusta /harley

Harley Davidson after facing third quarter profit drops, announced back in October, that they were killing off the production of Buell motorcycles and were going divest itself of the MV Agusta Group that they bought in 2008 for $109 million and many wondered what would happen to one of Italy’s most historic marques, especially in a down trodden economic market.

According to the well informed motociclismo.it HD may have found someone to buy out their stake in the MV Agusta and one of the companies could be BMW, who so far has neither confirmed or denied their interest and the second could be a consortium of Italian entrepreneurs led by Mario Moretti Polegato, founder and president of the Geox Group, who is best know in the footwear and apparel market.

The announcement of the sale of MV Agusta could come as early as the end of March.
