Andrea Dovizioso having fun in California

By Toni M. in: Personalities Video Honda Moto GP

Andrea Dovizioso may have crashed out his HRC Honda during the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix at Laguna Seca last month, but it looks like his disappointment didn’t last for long because his sponsor Red Bull took him around California, where the Italian rider tried his hand at surfing and stunt driving.

In the video you can also admire how Dovizioso handles a motocross bike. Motocross riding, on and off track, is a vital part of almost all MotoGP riders training and fitness programmes.

Red Bull X-Fighters Recharges Battersea Power Station

A surge of energy will bring Battersea Power Station to life on 22 August 2009 as the dramatic setting is transformed to play host to the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour finale. Twelve of the world’s best Freestyle Motocross (FMX) riders will descend on the British capital to thrill a 17,000-strong crowd as they perform gravity-defying tricks to battle it out for the world title in front of the famous white chimneys.

A double first: not only is it the first time Red Bull X-Fighters has touched down in the UK, it’s also the first time that both the inside and outside of Battersea Power Station will be used as part of the set to entertain the general public.

Red Bull X-Fighters is a high-energy spectacle in which riders on motorbikes combine power, skill, showmanship and bravery to excite fans. The World Tour has garnered a huge international following since its conception in 2001 with jumps and tricks getting harder, higher and longer every year – often reaching heights of 40 feet.

In 2008, 170,000 spectators saw the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour climb to new heights with spectacular contests in the bull fighting arenas of Mexico City and Madrid, the stone quarry of Wuppertal in Germany, the Sambadrome parade ground in Rio de Janeiro, a rodeo arena in Texas and a gigantic historic stadium in Warsaw – which was brought back to life for a day before it was then taken down by the wrecking ball.

The 2009 calendar is no less impressive and before making its debut in London, the series will have already touched down in Mexico City (Mexico), Calgary (Canada), Fort Worth (Texas, USA) and Madrid (Spain).

Sally Chatterjee, Interim Chief Executive, Visit London says: “Red Bull has a history of creating innovative and highly entertaining events that make the most of London’s unique landscape. As such I’m delighted Red Bull X-Fighters has chosen the iconic Battersea Power Station to host the final of its World Tour. The Power Station is a spectacular urban venue and will serve as an incredible backdrop for thousands of people to enjoy such a dynamic show.”

Tickets will be on sale from 1st June and range between £20-45, for more information visit www.redbullxfighters.com and for information on accommodation, restaurants and other activities for a London stay, visit event partner www.visitlondon.com

Red Bull two wheels battle gallery

Alvaro dal Farra vs Ivan Lazzarini nella Red Bull Battle on 2 wheels

This gallery comes from the Red Bull battle on two wheels challenge between Alvaro dal Farra, famous Italian freestyler, and Ivan Lazzarini, Italian Supermotard Champion. A program was set for the riders to challenge each other in the different disciplines, after previous meetings in the Red Bull Ape Race and the Red Bull X-Kart Race.

Freestyler Alvaro has generally had the upper hand, and so Ivan had a new challenge on the supermotard circuit, lapping Alvaro more than once.

But the foam pit was the breaking point for Ivan who, after years of supermotard racing, couldn’t get the right position to lean backwards and close a back flip. Both riders apparently had a lot of fun learning new things, but there’s something about old dogs and new tricks, particularly when we’re talking slides and backflips.

Robbie Maddison Backflips over Tower Bridge

By Toni M. in: News Personalities Video

Robbie “Maddo” Maddison does it again. This time the 27 year old Australian daredevil performed a no-handed backflip over an open Tower Bridge in London, becoming the first rider in history to jump the bridge on a motorbike.

The Wizard of Oz as he’s also known, had an approach speed of approximately 40mph, taking off from the north side of the bridge, performed the no-handed backflip, and held his landing in front of the south tower.

Robbie Maddison:

“The whole experience was awesome. Since the jumps in Las Vegas I have been set on doing something special here in London so the Red Bull team and I have been secretly scoping out Tower Bridge for months. We had a matter of minutes on the bridge and had to time everything to the second, there were so many factors to get right, but we pulled it off. People say I’m crazy, but I just want to push the boundaries of my sport and my body to the limit and I love taking on these huge challenges. It was an incredible feeling to fly between the two towers and over the Thames.”

MotoGP Indianapolis: rain and high winds

By koen in: Moto GP

Valentino Rossi extend his lead in the MotoGP Worldchampionship after winning the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix. However the race was cut after only seven laps to go because of the rain and high winds.

Nicky Hayden took 2nd, Lorenzo 3rd, and Stoner 4th position.

Casey Stoner said after the race:
“I think it was the right decision to stop the race because the conditions were really dangerous- more for the strong wind than the heavy rain, which made it difficult to keep the bike upright. I’m never going to be satisfied with fourth place but it would have been foolish to push harder in those conditions and I made the right decision not to do so. I got a good start but I quickly lost confidence because the rear tyre was tearing up quickly and by the time they stopped the race I was struggling to hold my lap times.”
