These pics show some great scenes of the Aprilia desert rally among the pyramids and dunes of Egypt. This year’s 450 cc class rally was won for the second time in a row by Paolo Ceci with his RXV 4.5 “Africa” and the Team Giofil 3000, while overall Aprilia managed 4th place. Linked to the bigger sisters of the SXV and RXV, the little ones from Aprilia for new licence holders were going to be successful from the start. And so it has occurred with the Aprilia SX and RX 125 entering 2009 as heirs to the specialist enduro experience of Aprilia.

The design is perfect for this kind of bike, along with just enough power for a 16-year old to safely enjoy a motorcycle. The difference between the SX and RX versions are mostly in the wheels, suited to road or terrain use accordingly.

Details include a two-stroke, single cylinder 125cc engine, front floating 260mm disc brake and rear at 220mm, double cradle frame and upside 40mm fork.

Here’s why Tucson has decided to render a track version of this bike, which could be the lightest motorcycle ever at only 100kg, using a trellis frame and carbon wheels.

It includes 70hp of power and an evolved Paioli suspension system. The aim is to finish the prototype in six months, and when it’s finished, could we see this model in dealerships in the future…? More pictures after the jump.
