Here’s a look at the new season Shoei helmets, with the high performance X Spirit II coming in as the new top-of-the-range Shoei model. The new full face helmet includes top notch innovation and materials, with a redesigned and aerodynamic external shell. It is made from AIM+ Plus Advanced Integrated Matrix materials, meaning a light-weight, fully rigid but flexible material. It weighs 1450 grams in the medium size.

The new Emergency Quick Release System allows for fast removal of the helmet in case of an accident or other necessity. The CWF-1 visor is large in size than the previous model and has Pinlock function. The internal lining can be removed and washed, and is available in various thicknesses for a better, personal fit.

A multiple air intake and outlet system makes for perfect breathability, even at low speeds. The Shoei X Spirit II is available in white and in the replica colours Kallio 2TC-1 and Streamliner TC-4. The price is between 740 and 889 euros for official Shoei outlets.

I still can’t get over these Star Wars helmets! Here is the new Shoei VFX-W helmet for 2009, that has finally arrived in Europe.

Sizing ranges from XXS to XXL, built on four different external shell sizes. The internal lining has the usual anti-perspirant technology and can be completely removed. The cheek part has rapid release technology, while the buckle fastener is a double ring style.

Colours available are the single white colour, and Sabre Tc-5 graphic version. From June, black will also be on offer.

For the upcoming season, Shoei has updated some of the colours on its XR 1000 full face helmet. The new colour scheme is called Symbol and its available in two versions: TC-1 with red stripes, and TC-2 with blue stripes.

The design has been developed from a famous Shoei design a few years ago, and now includes an external shell with three different sizes, along with fibreglass and EPS features. The internal ventilation is excellent with two front air intakes and rear outlets to create air circulation.

The inner lining can be washed, the closures is a classic double D form, and the front visor allows for partial opening, even at high speeds. The helmet is designed for medium and long range touring use, with an impressive style.

Shoei’s XR-1000 model is an integrated helmet made from AIM, with two internal semi-shells in polystyrene, exclusive to Shoei. Thesse shells guarantee a sophhisticated air flow through the helmet, and keep weight down to only 1330 grams.

The internal padding is removable and washable, and the helmet has a double-ring clip under the chin. The CX-1V visor has a Pinlock feature and quick opening. Two spoilers appear on the rear of the shell and the other on the base giving excellent aerodynamic stability and minimising noise and traffic vibrations.

The XR-1000 is available in one colour of light silver, and in the Cutlass Tc-4, Artifact Tc-1 and Tc-2, Diabolic Revelation Tc-5, Rogue Tc-6 and Voyager Tc-5 e Tc-6 designs. Shoei comes up with another helmet, the X-Spirit Toni Elias replica, with some great aerodynamics and the carbon fibre and AIM (Advanced Integrated Matrix) system.

The ultra-light helmet comes in at only 1250 grams, and has a rear aero-spoiler, cutting down air vibration and noise. The internal lining can be removed and washed, and is made in 3D which means the various padding can be modified to personalise the size.

X-Spirit is available in mono-colour Black, and also the Repliche Kallio Tc-1, Kiyonari Tc-2, Lawson Tc-1, Vermeulen 3 Tc-3, Tamada Tc-6 and Locatelli 2 Tc-1 replicas. Here’s another helmet solution from Shoei called J-Wing, and while it’s a jet helmet, it’s versatile enough to suit riders of scooters or tourism bikes.

The internal padding of the helmet is different from most jet helmets, as it’s designed for longer trips. Five different internal layers make for both comfort and safety. The visor is integrated into the shell, like most Shoei products and the ventilation is incredible - creating an internal canal of airflow.

The J-Wing is made from AIM organic fibres and fibreglass, making for a light helmet. Three sizes are available which cover a range from XXS to L, then L and XL, and then XL above. Colours available include black, opaque black, light silver, antracite and white and the new pearl grey as seen in the photo. The price is 438 euros.

“wow”! Was what I thought when I saw this Raid II integrated “entry level” helmet for the Shoei road range. The shell is made from AIM (composite fibres from Shoei), and has an integrated spoiler which guarantees aerodynamics.

Internal ventilation occurs through an air intake on the top part and chin piece of the helmet, and the air is then released from a rear outlet. Available sizing ranges from XXS to XXL, and the helmet weighs 1350 grams. Fixing the helmet occurs with an under-chin strap with double ring, CX 1V and PN for Pinlock.

Colours available are black, matt black, light silver and graphic versions of Lance Tc-1 and Tc-2, Sentry Tc-5 and Vogue Tc-7.
