Valentino Rossi who is racing in this weekend’s Phillip Island race was informed today that his stepfather Mauro Tecchi committed suicide. The 52 year old engineer shot himself in the chest with a caliber 12 rifle in his home at Pesaro.

Stefania Palma married Tecchi two years ago and was her second husband. According to the local Tavullia papers, Stefania and Tecchi had a fight and returned to her other home in Tavullia, but not hearing from her husband for several day sent friends to look for him, finding the man on his bed with a cushion on his chest and the rifle by his side.
