Pic of the day: Triumph at Furka Pass

By Alison

Triumph_Street_Triple_Furka_Pass

We had to share this lovely pic of a Triumph Street Triple R parked at the top of the Furka Pass in Switzerland after a motorcycle tour through the area. The pass has an elevation of 2,436 metres and is part of a three-pass trip that travellers often take. Apparently a steam train runs the pass and it was also used as a location in the James Bond film Goldfinger, but otherwise seeing this photo, we think it’s a great place for a spot of summer motorcycling.

Send your funny, bizarre or surprising pics to us and we’ll post them, with your name. We’d love to share what you guys find in the world of motorcycling! Send to: pics@twowheelsblog.com.

Triumph Street Triple R superbike one-make Parkingo European Series

By Alison

Triumph Street Triple R

Not strictly one of the best bikes for 2010, the Triumph Street Triple R has, however, won “bike of the year” 2009 in more than one country. Its 675 cc engine could have something to do with that, but overall we understand that this is one very fun bike to ride. The Street Triple R now has its own superbike one-make series with the ParkinGo European Series.

The races will take place on Superbike Sundays, between the first and second round of the race and will involve about 24 riders at the following Superbike rounds: Valencia, Assen, Monza, Misano, Brno, Donington, and Nurburgring.

The series has European championship status and the winner will compete at the final round of the 2010 Supersport World Championship on a Triumph Daytona 675 from BE1 Racing. For more information, see the Parkingo European Series website.

Triumph Street Triple R sexy biker

By Alison

Sexy biker Street Triple R

We’d normally reserve our sexy biker gallery for a Friday, but this has been a long week so we’re bringing it to you early. This is Kitty Lea and some bike in the background that you’re less likely to be interested in. She doesn’t come with the motorcycle, so don’t go rushing out to buy a Street Triple R hoping it’s all part of the package. Happy viewing.

Triumph 2009 models

By koen

During the Global Dealer Conference in Birmingham, Triumph revealed the new model line for 2009.

A new version for the Daytona 675 will arrive soon. One of the most important changes on the bike is the optimalisation in suspension. 3HP more and 3Kg less in weight. A Nissan monoblock bracking system is also included and some redesigned parts like a renewed dashboard.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary for the Bonneville, a limited edition with special colours will be built. The Standard model will run with new wheels, designed to show the “Seventies look” of the model.

Last but not least there will also be a renewed Street Triple R and the Thunderbird. The Thunderbird will be on the market around 2010 and this fine cruiser will run with a 1.600 cc engine!
