Designer Oberdan Bezzi has decided to create an even more agressive Triumph Thunderbird 1600, which has only just entered the market. Described as a “traffic light burner”, here’s a look at a different Thunderbird rendering.
It has 1700cc, squared exhaust, sports wheels and superbike suspension, and has been renamed “Hurricat”. Here the crowning rule is “big is beautiful”. Your thoughts?
Triumph presents the new Thunderbird 2009, fourth generation of the Thunderbird range. The first emerged in 1950 with an innovative twin cylinder 650cc, which defined new performance and handling standards.
The Thunderbird name was then re-used in the 80’s, before being employed on the popular three cylinder roadster models from 1995 to 2004. The Thunderbird 2009 combines custom style with a twin cylinder, 1,599 cc engine.
The performance engine is combined with electronic ignition, six speed transmission and 80hp with 140 Nm of torque. The Triumph Thunderbird comes with optional accessories and special parts, transforming it into a muscular hot rod for longer trips. ABS is also available.
Triumph has revealed its new Thunderbird 1600 equipped with a twin-cylinder transverse engine. As reported by Motociclismo.it who have published the photos, this is a six-speed cruiser with a cog or tooth wheel transmission.
The new Triumph enters the long-distance cruiser segment, but with a high performance engine according to the company. The new Thunderbird is still in its test phase and could undergo some more changes in addition to those seen in the photos.
The braking system, as you can see, has a double front disc, double piston calipers, and a rear disc with these calipers too. From Hinckley we learn that the motorcycle will be available only from 2009, but will be like a 2010 model.

During the Global Dealer Conference in Birmingham, Triumph revealed the new model line for 2009.
A new version for the Daytona 675 will arrive soon. One of the most important changes on the bike is the optimalisation in suspension. 3HP more and 3Kg less in weight. A Nissan monoblock bracking system is also included and some redesigned parts like a renewed dashboard.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary for the Bonneville, a limited edition with special colours will be built. The Standard model will run with new wheels, designed to show the “Seventies look” of the model.
Last but not least there will also be a renewed Street Triple R and the Thunderbird. The Thunderbird will be on the market around 2010 and this fine cruiser will run with a 1.600 cc engine!
