Leon Haslam with his Alstare Suzuki was on top of the (unofficial) test times at on day one of two days of testing at the Valencia circuit. Pocket Rocket did 75 laps posting a best time of 1.34”5. Second Suzuki rider Sylvain Guintoli was only ninth and behind Aprilia’s test rider Alex Hofmann with a best lap of 1.36”1.

Max Biaggi was second fastest after completing 72 laps on the Aprilia RSV4 1.34″7, testing new front and rear suspensions. Biaggi’s team mate Leon Camier did 82 laps with a best time of 1.35”8, the same times as test rider Alex Hofmann (66 laps).

James Toseland on his second outing with Yamaha posted a best time of 1.34”8 making him third, despite suffering a low side crash during the morning session, while his team mate Cal Crutchlow ended the day fifth fastest spending most of the first day adjusting the R1 to suit his size.
