Vespa World Days Europe

The 2011 Vespa World Days event will take place north of Oslo, at Gjøvik, in about a week’s time and it seems like this meet only gets bigger every year. With registration still open, so far we can expect thousands of “Vespisti” from 120 Vespa clubs, representing 20 countries around the world.

The Vespa Trophy race will take place again this year, which is a clever business initiative whereby Vespa owners must try to collect as many photos and stamps from European Vespa dealerships as possible. The Trophy was inaugurated last year and after being highly successful, it was decided to repeat the event this year.

The Vespa Trophy involves 2,000 Vespa dealerships across Europe. Any Vespa Club member can participate with the goal for each club being to arrive at Gjøvik on May 19 with the most “Piaggio Check Points” completed. The Vespa World Days program is as follows:

Vespa World Days a success for Vespa clubs and fans

Vespa World Days 2009

Here are a few shots from the Vespa World Days 2009 event that took place in Zell Am See, Austria, earlier this month. The event was a success again this year, for the third time, with more than 3,000 Vespa scooters registered and 5,000 Vespa fans. 270 Vespa clubs were involved, from countries around Europe and from overseas.

The most committed Vespa fans came from Canada and the US, and the oldest Vespa fan is an 82-year-old veteran of the famous scooter. The Vespa brand was born in 1946 and after 17 million models sold around the world, it has united countries and culturals in an unmistakable symbol of Italian life and style.

More than 100,000 Vespas are sold internationally every year, and the celebration this year included the not-to-be-missed Vespa parade of both vintage and modern models.

Vespa World Days 2009

From June 11 to 14 thousands of Vespa fans will meet for the Vespa World Days in the Salzburg valleys at Zell Am Sell. The Austrian medieval town will host the scooter event for four days, where a huge number of Vespa world fans are expected to gather.

With more than 17 million Vespas sold from 1946 until now, and with 100,000 units sold each year around the world, Vespa is an Italian style icon that is coming to Austria to tour among the Grossglockner slopes and around the lakes, with guided tours takintg in breathless scenery. What better way to go high altitude than on a Vespa…?

After a huge attendance in Sicily in 2008 and in San Marino in 2007, Bespa World Days is growing more than ever, and the Austrian edition should confirm the success of this event. More than 2,600 registrations are currently on the list and 250 Vespa clubs are planning on attending, coming from 20 different countries. The third edition will truly establish this as a world motor meet.

Thousands of "Vespisti" meet at Cefalù for the Vespa World Days 2008

Vespa World Days 2008 a Cefalu

More than 5000 Vespa fans from 15 countries coloured the streets of Cefalù and Palermo, invading the north coast of Sicily. This was a great success for the second edition of Vespa World Days: the most important world gathering dedicated to Vespa, famous throughout the world and flag bearer of Italian style.

Nearly 70km of road was travelled by fans who reached Palermo and paraded through the streets of the historic centre, to then reach the finish at Fiera del Mediterraneo. More than 2000 “vespisti” then celebrated the conclusion of the tour.

The variety of models which participated is impossible to determine: you could find legendary examples such as the Vespa ET3 from 1975, but also more modern and elegant models such as the GTS 250 and the 125 LXV (made in 2006 for the 60-year anniversary of the scooter).
