Harley Davidson XR1200 by Storz Performance

This Harley Davidson special has been created by Storz Performance and is based on the XR1200. Aside from its great looks, the main achievement here is the weight reduction with 15 kg being shaved off the original weight.

The XR1200 Storz Performance was completed by Steve Storz, the head of the company, and has been updated with new suspension, wheels, brakes, exhaust, handle bars and seat. The wheel rims have a gold finish, the shock absorbers are in aluminium, and the spokes have a polished stainless steel finish. The front upside-down fork is from Storz/Ceriani.

Storz has described his XR1200 as “Clubman Style”, meaning less dirt track looks than the original. It’s certainly an eye-catching special with an impressive makeover. For more information on this and other Storz products, see the Storz Performance website.

2010 Harley Davidson video

By Alison

In this video we can see some of the 2010 Harley Davidson models, including the Electra Glide Ultra Limited, Dyna Wide Glide, Fat Boy Special, and XR1200X, and we also get a look at the Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) chroming and accessorising department.

2010 could be a watershed year for Harley, after having pared back operations, ridding itself of Buell and MV Agusta, it can focus on its own operations. But whether it’s enough to save the brand from financial difficulty, we’ll only know later next year. You can have the David Grohl’s and Marisa Miller’s all you want, but if you don’t sell bikes….

Electra Glide Ultra Limited, Dyna Wide Glide, Fat Boy Special, XR1200X modelli 2010

The four new 2010 Harley Davidson models are the Electra Glide Ultra Limited, Dyna Wide Glide, Fat Boy Special, and XR1200X, in addition to new work from Harley Davidson’s Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) chroming and accessorising department.

The new queen of Harley Davidson touring bikes is the Electra Glide Ultra Limitedm with more power thanks to its Twin Cam 103 engine. It picks up a few extra accessories that are generally available only as optional extras on the other models in the range, to make it a top-spec tourer.

The Dyna Wide Glide is back with completely new updates, and a “old school” chopper style. It has black spoke wheels, a shorter, rear fender, black “wire” sissy bar, 2-1-2 Tommy Gun exhaust and a limited flame paint scheme.

Kit Harley-Davidson XR1200 Trophy Replica

Harley-Davidson Italy has developed this XR1200 Trophy Replica as a kind of middle ground between the XR1200 road version and the Trophy track racing version. It should meet the needs of fans who want the maximum sports performance from their twin-cylinder.

The project comes from the success of the Trofeo XR1200 in its second year. The XR1200 Trophy Replica technology and design is inspired by the championship model, but modified for road use.

The Trophy Replica kit is available for an extra 2,200 euros (in addition to the original cost of the road version XR1200 at 11,500 euros) and includes Termignoni mufflers with removable carbon and DB killer elements, and Wave floating disc brakes.

Braking tube technology is included with Ohlins shock absorbers Valter Moto sports footrests, Plastic Bike painted parts and carbon fibre heat shielder for the exhaust. The kit will be available from this month at Harley Davidson dealers.

Paolo Blora nel Trofeo Harley-Davidson XR1200

In the Harley Davidson XR1200 trophy for 2009, the Italian edition, this XR1200 painted blue and white will take part. Paolo Blora is a policeman and has given his Harley Davidson a new paint job for the occasion.

Blora is a rider with RP Motorsport, and here he takes part in the Harley Davidson Trophy with the number 113 (the emergency number for the police in Italy). We’ll be looking out for anyone who catches the bug of a personal touch to their bike in the trophy.

Harley-Davidson and British Superbike in 2009

By Alison

Harley Davidson in British Superbike nel 2009?

It looks as though fans of the British Superbike will have plenty to celebrate in 2009 as Harley Davidson has announced its participation in the BSB, organising a one-make series for its XR1200.

The series gains itself some success, and hats off to series director Stuart Higgs, as Harley will dedicate a model to nine races in the BSB calendar for 2009. Entry fees shouldn’t prove to be exorbitant, attracting both established names and entry-level riders.

While we shouldn’t count the chickens before they hatch, the series is almost guaranteed success with Motorcycle News (MCN) backing it (together with Henderson Insurance).

Video: Harley XR1200 test

By Alison

This is a great video from the guys at MCN (and we’re a little jealous), of a group bike test that they complete on a European motorcycle road trip. They examine the Harley Davidson XR1200, putting it up against a Ducati GT1000 and Moto Guzzi’s 8v 1200 Griso. Their conclusion? The XR1200 is not a benchmark sports bike.

The second video below is all in Italian, but gives you a close-up look at the Harley XR1200. From Tor Sagen, at Raptors and Rockets, and shown on MotoTV, the racing version comes off well, with the conclusion that fun is guaranteed.
