Here are the videos of the new Yamaha Fazer8 and FZ8 bikes, showing them cruising around on some mountain roads. After initial test rides of the FZ8 and Fazer8, the merits of the two models are being discussed and commercial success as of first impressions is not necessarily guaranteed at this stage. While it does its job as a mid-range sports bike, replacing the FZ6 range, the new bikes might well have overpriced themselves in the segment compared to the competitors. We’ll have to wait and see. In the video above is the naked FZ8, while after the jump is the semi-faired Fazer8 version.

These live pics show a test of the new Yamaha FZ8 and Fazer8 which, after its launch, is proving to be an intriguing bike on the market. Testing proves that the Yamaha FZ8 is a fun and agile bike to ride, capable of some impressive performance at high speeds and in cornering. There are some concerns that it has been a wasted exercise, though, with the Yamaha Z750 still a better and more attractive bike.

There’s not always a lot of point in stopping to discuss the aesthetics of a bike, as to each his own, but in terms of technology, the Yamaha FZ8 has a latest generation aluminium chassis, and is a lighter weight bike in its class due to the use of lighter materials. It’s difficult to anlyse and judge a bike of this segment and it certainly isn’t a good idea to discuss whether we’re looking at something truly revolutionary or not. Especially given the vast numbers of competitors and the pricing involved for these kinds of bikes, it’s difficult to produce something that we could consider extraordinary or truly different.

For this reason, you’re better off to take the Yamaha FZ8 and Fazer8 on its own merits: as a bike that will eventually replace the FZ6 and seems different enough to do so. It’s a comfortable bike for rider and passenger alike, with enough power and manageability to satisfy riders who want a good bike that they can control and enjoy, without looking for something off the planet for either design or price.

Here are all the official pics of the new Yamaha FZ8 and Yamaha Fazer8. The bike was presented at the 2010 Roma motodays event after plenty of teaser shots and leaked pics. The new models complete the FZ1 and FZ6 range, which are also available in the Fazer semi-faired version. The FZ8 and Fazer8 are bikes with a distinctive style, designed to be agile but powerful.

Both are equipped with a new 779cc engine with 106.2 hp and maximum torque of 82 Nm (at 8,000 rpm). The models fit into the range between all-powerful superbikes and easy-to-manage, medium range sportbikes. The Fazer8 and FZ8 models are compact, with cast alluminium frames and swingarms, with rapid steering and good road grip.

The Fazer8 has more sports touring features across all riding conditions, although we’re still looking at super street performance levels, with better aerodynamics. The prices announced at the presentation have the FZ8 at about 8,190 euros, and the Fazer8 at 8,690 euros. See after the jump for the technical information on both bikes and the complete galleries.

Just for the record, we thought we’d post the new Yamaha FZ8 and FZ8 Fazer pics again, and clarify what we’re going to call them to avoid any confusion. We first saw the FZ8 back in January as the more naked version of the two, and now Yamaha has released its first official pic of the Fazer8. It’s equipped with an 800cc, inline four engine. Both models will be debuting next month, on the 12th or 13th and we’ll have more details then. For now, we’ll all have to content ourselves with these two pictures.

After the leaked pics of the Yamaha FZ8 “Fazer” we saw yesterday, we can now show you the first official photo of the 2010 FZ8 courtesy of our colleagues at Motoblog.it. This new pic does the bike justice compared to the black and white shots from yesterday, but we get the feeling that this will be it until March 12, when the official FZ8 presentation will occur.

The Yamaha FZ8 Fazer is not set for its official debut until May, but Motociclismo.it says these are leaked pics of the final version bike. The Fazer 8 will have both faired and naked versions, as seen in the pics below, based on the same chassis. The FZ8 could replace the FZ6 model, and you can see the official FZ8 teaser in the picture above.

The FZ8R should tip the scales at about 220 kg, making it a heavy bike, which is about 4.5 kg heavier than the FZ8 naked version. The FZ8 is looking very similar to the Yamaha FZ1, with the 800 cc motor also rumoured to be based on the bigger bike. We could be looking at 120 hp, and torque is expected to be impressive as well.

We don’t know at this stage whether the FZ8 will actually replace the FZ6, or be an additional option in the line-up, placed between the FZ1 and the FZ6. There’s no word from Yamaha about whether it will bring forward the presentation date after these leaked pics, if that’s what they are (though I’m not sold on that), but we think we can expect some more details soon.
