Jay Leno’s customised Star VMAX motorcycle will be auctioned at the Barrett-Jackson collector car auction, with proceeds going to the Bailey’s CafĂ© charity, a community program bringing art education to some of New York’s toughest neighbourhoods.
The auction will take place in Las Vegas, and the brand new VMAX should fetch a good price, having just been re-designed by custom bike builder Jeff Palhegyi. He had just one week to redesign it with the only instructions from Jay Leno being: “this bike’s going to be bought by an enthusiast, so make sure to keep it rideable.”
The bidding range is not known, though the charity is hoping to achieve their 100,000 dollar goal. We figure that the sale of the bike, along with a few other bits and pieces will probably achieve that.

Akrapovic has developed a new titanium exhaust for the Yamaha V-max. The twin exhaust has a conical design and gives the bike both an impressive sound, and a brand new look. The end caps are made from alluminium, and the new muffler unit is designed with a “slip-on” fitting.
While not made for street-use, the exhaust comes with removable dampers. It saves 10 kg of the overall weight of the V-max, and delivers a power increase to 186.26 hp at 9117 rpm. That’s up from 181 hp at 8995 rpm.
To find out where to purchase Akrapovic parts, the site has a handy world wide motorcycle exhaust dealer guide, where you can click on the country and get in touch from there.

An inside look at the Yamaha V-Max explained by Sean Goldhawk marketing manager during the Australian Motorcycle Expo.
The blog dedicated to Triumph fans, called “blog triumph che passione” always provides interesting news and curiosities from the world of Triumph.
What you see in this picture is a creation from Pio in the form of a Triumph Rocket III RR. It’s a 200hp Supercruiser with Daytona suspension and brakes. Excess weight has been eliminated, and an Arrow exhaust in double valve titanium included.
The dream Triumph cruiser also has radial Brembo calipers and a braking wave brakes system. It’s not a bad effort at all, and if it were ever to come to light, it could be the first competitor to the Yamaha V-Max.
